the real news to me in this article is that GM thinks that SAAB is still a premium brand, even after they’ve let them rot away building Opel knock-offs on 10-year old platforms.

the smart car dealership has a 3.5 year wait on them already. I ordered one, it should be here in november-january they said. i ordered mine january 5th.

JoshyLofty, you are right, every time I drive through Dallas I see a lot of Hummers, but then I was shocked to see a Smart car there.

Im surprised that the Hybrid tahoes don’t sell where you are, smith, I live in Dallas, Texas & i see them everywhere (i see maybe 1-3 near-daily). there’s 3 in my apt complex alone! They’re very distinct with the “HYBRID” printed along the side – which i like.

A diesel-hybrid H2 makes PERFECT sense! i wondered why the H2’s weren’t diesels to begin with. Its not like they don’t have enough room under the hood to work with!!!

I think and have thought for a while that GM should have positioned Hummer as a Hybrid brand, possibly even Diesel Hybrid brand.
Its production is low enough for a positioning like that, and its unique enough to pull it off.

Not to mention a Diesel hybrid H2 would pull like crazy and have a comparably reasonable mileage.

Joshy, I went to the dealership and asked the sales manager how sales on their Hybrid Yukon are doing. He told me they are excellent $55K paperweights. They haven’t sold one and no one is interested. Very sad.

I wouldn’t be too put off by CHRYSLER acquiring HUMMER. The problem is making the brand synonymous with “wasteful excess” and “bling bling” really fit in against JEEP largely considered America’s only true All-terrain car brand.

I can’t see FORD taking on anymore trucks.

I can’t help but feel HUMMER will be shut down before 2015, unless GM finds a buyer, or they just make the division heavily dependent on diesel engines and hybrid power trains.

maybe putting the Tahoe Hybrid technology in the H2 would help? just a guess. its a start, anyways. Not like anyone uses their hummers for anything more than sitting in traffic everyday anyways. Of course, i mean the majority.

Hummer’s biggest mistake was never bringing out a direct competitor to the Jeep Wrangler, perhaps even with a hybrid option as a trump card.

Having its roots firmly grounded it is too bad that GM did not carefully cultivate Hummer to address real-world issues in a timely fashion. People say GM could not see this crisis coming—bull****—as academia has been discussing these problems for decades. Where is that bigmouth Lutz these days…he has always said how he has all the right answers?

Heads up to the dealers, the brand image cannot get any worse. The buying public already looks at these as wasteful, pretentious money pits for dickless retards. It’s very tough being a fan or an owner without having to worry about some rabid pshyco-greenie vandalizing your 50 thousand dollar ride.

GM in general needs to shed its reputation for relying on gas guzzling pigs as the bulk of its offerings.

I just can’t imagine anyone wanting to buy this brand. Sales for the H2 are so poor it makes ford look succesfull! I know a guy who has one and after only 2 years needs to get rid of it and can’t even find a dealership that would accept his hummer for a trade in. He put an ad for it in the auto trader and after 2 months not a single call for it. If you buy a hummer, you will be stuck with it.
