And movie stars know exactly WHAT about cars? Just because you can pay someone to shill your products, that doesn’t mean you should.

Bullshit, Aside from the Bling Bling crowd and athletes attracted to the Escalade, GM is about as much of a cultural icon these days as Milli Vanilli. The “Then and now” shpeal is a slap in the face to the loyal fans who have bought their products before this supposed renaissance. Horray for another “Road to Redemption” campaign.

“In SAE magazine, Bob Lutz commented on GM’s past glory, and how it might return. “We had ‘the recipe’ then, and we cleaned everybody’s clock,�? Lutz said.”

Key word here is “MIGHT”.

Toyota or BMW could have the crappiest commercials in the car industry, but since their products work well, look good (well, in BMW’s case, that is really subjective…), and drive well for their intended targets, they would still sell as well as they do.

This isn’t a very difficult concept: make good cars and people will buy them. What’s so hard to understand about that?

I’m so sick and tired of GM thinking that they need more marketing with ghetto celebrities instead of just making good looking, good performing cars. If you ran a any sort of business would you asscociate yourself with a group called “Slum Village”?
