Just to get the discussion back to where it should be, Chevrolet has a hot hit on its hands. It would seem that the new GM models are very nice and they sure seem to add some interesting additions to the 2008 model year. I am betting that a lot of makes will get redone interiors because of the Malibu and that we will all be happier that it is out there for this fact alone. Right now the Malibu has the hands down best looking interior in the segment. It is a bit heavy and I sure look forward to them putting a twin fan direct injection system in that 3.6 engine like Toyota does so that it gets better fuel economy. Other than that its at least competitive with the top entries in the market. Price/content wise its more than competitive.

I said my post, dumb ass!

GM
already
has
some
cars
that
are
better
than
some
japanese
cars!

I knew it, you won't even admit the obvious! You still have not mentioned what "facts" i should bring up, but then again, I've had to whip out merriam-webster on your ass three times, so it's clear you don't know what a fact is.
You're blindness and stupidity are now in cyberspace forever!

GM is American just like you are an idiot
Your Civic didn’t die at 91k you are a liar. You seemed to have bought it used. How long did our Corolla last?
258k and 358k is a large difference so I know you are lying there as well
My facts can be supported with resale and KBB, which is used in courts of law. Your posts can’t be backed up with anything substantial.
Is the CTS better than the Yaris? I’m sure the Yaris will hold its value better. If you had read I asked that you do comparable vehicles CTS is an entry-level luxury car and the Yaris is an affordable economy car. I’m guessing that you don’t know what "comparable" means.

I didn't buy a tempo over a civic. I bough a tempo over a pontiac lemans and a taurus with 258K (or was it 358k) miles on it.

I bought a civic over a saturn (worst decision I ever made), and when it died at 91K, I needed another car quickly, and got a tempo.

If the civic hadn't died, I'd have never owned the tempo.

What "facts" would you like me to use? What "facts" are there that would support either of our cases.

Can you diffrentiate between "GM" and "american?" read my post again.

But, just to support my post, the new CTS is better than the Yaris.

I can't wait to hear what you say about that, but that was low-hanging fruit. I'm setting a trap.

jackdev: some people can accept it, other's are still choosing to believe every GM car is an '87 Celebrity.

Cookie: man, some of those cars were crappy! Dodge Daytona, anyone?

Mar Sole: In germany, they call those "Monday Editions.

Tripleonefive: GM already has some cars that are better than some japanese cars

Jack - Because they are NOT building world-class cars. This Malibu will be sold to fleets and then I will have to drive that crap when i'm on vacation in January. The old Malibu "classic" (you are funny) was made for rental and when they overproduce this current Malibu it will meet the same fate.
GM will comeback when they have cars that are better than the Japanese offerings. I don’t see that happening anytime soon

Off topic: I wish Nissan would go back to Datsun. Dunno why, just like the name better. While I'm at it, I'd love to see a modern day 510.

Anyway, as for GM making a 'comeback' with the Malibu, Hey, they have to start some place don't they? Can't make a comeback without a starting point you know.

Every car manufacturer has the occasional 'built on a friday' problem now and again.

I for one am glad GM at least appears to be giving the attention where it needs to go.

Wow. I can't believe it.

1115 still posts here?

Not surprised about the increase in capacity. This car will be a hit...it will be 100x more successful than the already successful Aura...especially since it wears a bowtie badge. This is what district car compared to other volume brands' midsize offerings. Also, now that Toyota is out of the running with their reliability issues, and Hyundai is overproducing the Sonata, and the Altima and Accord have gotten bigger and more expensive (although both are great cars IMHO), the Malibu will just need to be reliable and have a high resale. Since the new Malibu will be sold to fleets in MINIMAL numbers (the old Malibu -- renamed Malibu Classic will continue to be dumped into fleets), this car will certainly have a nice resale. Reliability - we will just have to wait and see but in the last one or two years GM has had very low recalls compared to companies will VW, Toyota, Honda, and Chrysler so I am not worried about reliability.

Typical of this site. The first few comments I read where all written by complete uneducated idiots.

Why can people just finally once and for all except that fact that GM now building excellent world class cars and trucks and the new Malibu is one of them. Get over it.

1115: you cut assbags some slack?
Nobody cares whether you buy one car or another in 2022? Except those charlatans that got you last time. They can't wan't for their pigeon to return for more "japanese luxury."

GM still have more market share than any other company, idiot. How's that for being on consumers' lists?

I tink not bringing camcord's into malibu showrooms is a mistake that will cost the General sales. Although I think Ford's "market research" thing was a bit loaded.

Coming back takes more than two or three models and one year void of recalls. Any intelligent person would know that
I dont know MMB and you trying to convinc me that I am wrong is a pathetic attempt at convincing yourself. Errr you are not as intelligent as you think
if Toyota has steady recalls in ten years and GM has no recalls and the cars are selling better than the Japanese and have high resales then maybe then they will be on consumers lists
With the help of LLN and the dolts who praise GM for making 4 unproven "good " cars in 20plus years maybe One person will trade a Camry or Accord for a Malibu or Aura.... oh wait no they wont lol
No side by side comparo in showrooms huh GM ha aha ha

Intelligent is not a word I'd use to describe a deluded Kool-Aid drinking parrot. An actual intelligent person wouldn't have to change the subject every time he's been caught in another regurgitation of BS 'facts'. And no matter what anyone thinks of this windbag, it doesn't change the fact that GM and Ford are coming back and Toyota is bobbling the ball.

Whether you think I am intelligent handsome have nice shoes etc IT DOESNT MATTER!
I cut you assbags some slack and said that American products may be worth consideration in 2017 instead of 2022.
I would say that GM and Ford are making better cars then they once were but they still are crap until proven otherwise.
JJT is an idiot who cant even type Lexus or Infiniti on the "clock" lol

Sure, Fluffer, you drove the aura.\

GM's Epsilon platform cars are the best commuter coffins available in America today. I just wish they'd stop at 2, the Malibu and Aura.
The company needs to give it's brands more distinct models.

hey 2017 is better than 2022. you dont get it 1115 i have tried every way to actually have a decent conversation with you and you just twist the words around, i know you are a very intellegent guy AND AT THIS POINT I JUST THINK YOU LIKE TO INSTIGATE. no matter how many times i say i have cars from japan germany and america you say its just because of patriotism, mabey its just a longshot but i thought i made my decision based upon the cars and not an outside influence. every one of us has agreed that cars 20 years ago bit the big one and based upon the comparison of then and now we have come to an agreeance that the cars abee better than they WERE and that still baffles your logic cernter, what is so hard to believe that american cars are better all around than they have ever been?

I never said the Tundra sucks. The quality issues may be linked to lazy ass hicks building the car who are angry at the Japanese for making a better product. Dont twist my words its looks pathetic and it doesnt help your argument at all, then again your arguments are bs so nothing will. I said the Malibu sucks. It will never get the import buyers to trade in their Camry or Accord and that is what GM needs. I keep hearing bs from idiots like CTS JJT and Commo about how GM is making better products. I drove that Aura and it sucked and they havent proven that the cars are quality vehicles. In 2017 MAYBE they will be worth considering but until then tey are just the same old crap they have been forcing on americans for years

RicardoHead pretty much summed it up for you previous lame posters. Give GM some credit for coming out with a good car at a time when the press had counted out the domestic brands. This will sell well to buyers who want to buy domestics, and to import buyers who are put off by the wacky new Accord or dull Camry. All it needs is a favorable Consumer reports review and the typical family sedan buyer will put the new 'bu on their shopping list. I am also not a GM fan, but will recognize a company for getting it right.

ricardo sitting here and reading the accusations that americans are the reason tundras suck (1115 yeah you said it)makes me think that all of the times they said americans are insecure because the imports are better argument, i think it is them projecting their insecurities preimptavely at us because they know how much gm has caught up and is on the verge of passing their precious fanboy markes. if there is a good gm car here they accuse lln of being a gm subsiderary, if lln says something negative about gm then the same sissy crybabies dont say anything.......seems fishy to me.

[sarcasm] You guys are all such optimists! [/sarcasm]

I think the Malibu will sell well despite the Malibu name - it's not like the names Accord or Camry roll off the tongue with any pride anymore. Really - Malibu sounds fresher in a lot of ways.

And maybe LLN puts out a lot of positive GM stories because they are the only major company doing exciting things at the moment - setting themselves up for a comeback. I mean what else do you have? ....

... Honda: lackluster new Accord, overpriced mild Oddessey refresh, nothing new for 2 years.
... Toyota: quality issues, boring cars, nothing new.
... Ford: borrrrrrring domestic offerings, bringing nothing exciting, nothing new.
... Chrysler: ugly, nothing new till Cerberus kicks some butt.
... Nissan: new Infinitis out, Altima is yesterday, nothing new.
... Mazda: great new Mazda 6 ... in a year.
... BMW: yawwwwwn
... Benz: yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn
... Audi: new A4 & A5 and LLN reports both, plus A1 updates
and GM: new CTS, Malibu, G8, Enclave - all good very new stuff with alot of excitement/anticipation.

So of course GM is going to get a lot of good press, and you are all pissy because your favorite marques are asleep at the wheel. For the record, I am no GM fanboy, but unlike you all my opinion is allowed to adapt to new things as time passes. You hardheaded fanboys are like old geezers who will never change.

Good move, I have a feeling the Malibu will sell very, very well. It is basically a G6 with a more upscale interior and economy-oriented gearing. I own a 2007 GTP and it's a very good car aside from some interior shortcomings. The 3.6L engine is fantastic.

This move makes sense, if they don't sell as many Malibu's as they though, just lay off the new hires that will be contract workers anyway.

The Malibu seems to be a great improvement, but will need to undercut the jap & euro cars on price to sell in big #'s.

Or you could also just have all domestic cars built in Canada. Statistically Canadian built domestics are better quality and more reliable than domestics built here in the US. Domestics built in Mexico? I would just stay away from that completely.

GM is an automaker that should focus more on quality rather than just wasting money on creating more models which are basically the same product as their other models. What domestic automakers need to do is completely rebuild their work force. Get rid of all these whining slacker highschool dropouts making $28/hr with proper skilled workers who appreciate the work they do, and have respect for the company they work with. Just visit any German or Japanese auto plant and you will see people who are diciplined, highly skilled, and very deserving of their high pay.

I like this car, except for the stupid name (guess it works in american). The fact that this car is good and shows GM progression isn't enough, it is still no class leader and that ellipson platform is not a help judging by other models based on it ( saab 9-3,G6,aura,opel vectra). this car is too late
