With the calendar now reading March, General Motors has decided it’s high time for a little spring cleaning at its United States dealerships. General Motors has announced a 0 percent financing program intended to boost sales on slow selling models and clear out aging inventory.
Set to run through the end of the month, the program will offer 0 percent financing for 60 months for qualified buyers. The offer is good for about 55 percent of GM’s 2010 model. The incentives will be mainly focused on pickup truck models.
“Obviously, with our hot launch products, we don’t need to put 0 percent financing for 60 months on that,†Susan Docherty, GM vice president for U.S. marketing, said in an interview. “That 0-for-60 will be primarily on products like our pickups.â€
Additionally, GM is offering 0 percent financing for 72 months on most of its remaining 2009 models. The program is farther reaching than its 60 month incentive package, covering 97 percent of GM models.
Toyota recently launched a 0 percent financing program of its own, but GM says its actions are independent of any moves at Toyota.
