More Cheap cars here in China. Chang Motors is way better than the Amero-chinese garbage.
I'm flying from Shanghai to the Chicago autoshow to get a Glimpse of the next new Ford Explorer. I hope they bring that to China

Thanks for the clarification, jayjc08, I was wondering. The car pictured is mighty nicer than Buicks here, but the front end looks equal parts of BMW's prev.-gen M3 and the current 5-series.

No Buicks are rebadged Pontiacs. The G8 is a Commodore VE-SS rebadge. The Chinese Park Ave is a Holden Statesman rebadge. The Statesman is somewhat of a luxury car in Australia and its larger than the Commodore. Both Zeta, yes; same car, no.

I agree with jayjc08 on this one. The current lineup of Buicks in China aren't that great looking. I totally agree with his comments about the exterior of the Chinese LaCrosse (I prefer the U.S. exterior, although I wouldn't exactly label it as desirable either). What's even worse is that they sell the Suzuki Forenza over there as the Buick Excelle. I do think that the Holden Statesman/Caprice based Park Avenue is conservatively nice and would make a decent stop gap flagship sedan for Buick (if they alter the Impala-esque taillights). I would import it until a more interesting design could be brought to market. If all of the hype that Mr. Lutz has been pushing about the next generation Epsilon II LaCrosse is true, then Buick's sleep-inducing styling era is about to come to an end. I hope it's all true. It would be nice to see Buick offer some cars that can sit proudly on the Buick lot next to the gorgeous Enclave.

I do like the exterior design of the Lucerne (it's conservative, but well done). I think the interior design is a letdown as well as the absence of availability of the 3.6 liter DOHC V6/6 speed automatic transmission combo. I also didn't understand the name change. LeSabre carried a lot of market equity and the Lucerne's exterior design appears to be a nice evolution of LeSabre styling.

As far as the hybrid situation in the U.S., I expect the LaCrosse to receive it when the next generation hits the market. I don't think GM needs to waste time, money, or resources on installing the hybrid in the current LaCrosse given its limited time in the market.

autonut, do you realize that what the cars put in the air..........doesnt just stay in china, its not just their environment..........its the atomosphere shared by everyone. You dont live in a bubble only breathing in your own personal air supply. so this will help improve your environment in the US.

And my own opinion is, these great ideas and car designs in china, should be global and be brought stateside.

Can someone explain to me why Chinese government tolerates and promotes industry that pollutes their own cities, allows their toy companies to send our kids lead laden toys and GM feels compelled to improve their environment and not ours? I'd say let them choke, and accelerate environment friendly development home.

A lot of the chinese Buicks are the market (not actual model) equivalent to Chevys in the US.
The small ones are Opels (Corsa for example) and the bigger ones are Holdens.

So a hybrid Buick for China is what a hybrid Malibu is for America.

Doesn't explain why their models are nicer than the US ones, though.

I actually like our American Buick Lacrosse better. The interior on the Chinese one is better, but our interior is more simple, and I like our exterior better than that thing- when I first saw the rear lights, it reminded me of an Altima (and the roofline). Seemed sort of like an Nissan Altima-Buick Lacrosse hybrid.

I'm guessing all you kids are looking at the picture on the article though. Just to let you know, that's the Buick Park Avenue/Statesman (not sure the difference between the two), and to sum it up, it looks like a slightly better looking Chevrolet Impala, which in my opinion isn't that bad looking, but nothing special. Tail lights, windows, overview, profile all look similar.

it's the chinese-spec buick park avenue, and it's a holden commodore rebadge, just like our pontiac g8 is a holden commodore rebadge. i don't know why we don't get it, it's probably loads better than the lucerne.
