In an interview with Automobilwoche, GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz said Opel is considering developing four new models in the near future. He said one of the new vehicles could be a small SUV positioned below the Opel Antara. “We are examining the market chances for a global, small SUV that will be positioned below the Opel Antara,” Lutz said. He indicated GM wants to enter the small SUV market before the end of the decade. Regarding the possibility of four new models, he said no final decisions have been made. While the Opel brand is only sold overseas, any new models would be of particular interest to U.S. buyers because the majority of new Opels are expected to be sold here in North America as Saturns.

I’ll believe they’re coming as Saturns when they get here. Bring the Astra!

GM should’ve taken Saturn out back and shot it, and just brought back the Opel name. Id much rather drive the slightly more razor edged Opel brand than the floozy Saturn name. No offense to Saturn, but when you put every Opel next to their Saturn equivalent, and add in cars we dont get like the Opel Speedster, the Vectra, the Astra… Id much rather drive the Opel. The Astra alone could put drop the ball on the now crappy (American) Focus. And not the astra as a saturn, the astra as an opel.

Ryan, it doesn’t make sense that you wish to can Saturn and bring back Opel, when really, Saturn is, in the near future, going to be the US Opel. Is the badge really going to make that much of a difference? Please tell me you’re not that shallow-minded.
BTW, the Opel Speedster was discontinued and replaced by the Opel GT/Saturn Sky, the Vectra is a pig, so it escapes me why you would want it anyway, despite the fact that the Aura is basically Saturn’s Vectra and the Astra will be coming to the US anyway – so I don’t really see why you’re complaining.
