It looks like some General Motors plants are starting to follow Ford ’s lead by restricting the best parking spots to vehicles they make. Beginning today, parking spaces closest to GM’s Arlington assembly plant will be restricted to cars from the General Motors family, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Only a quarter of parking spaces may now be used by non-GM vehicles, and those are the worst spots in the lot. One employee who drives a new Ford F-150 said he didn’t blame GM for the problem. Rather, he blamed the union, who he said needs to “represent us better.” He said he bought the F-150 because it looked better than the GMC or Chevy offerings. Another non-GM owner said he simply drives what he can afford. Similar measures were implemented at Ford plants earlier this year. In March, the UAW had to tell Ford employees to stop vandalizing non-Ford cars.
