Lambo, all i was saying is that by buying domestic cars, you are helping american businesses. which was my point of what happened to american pride. And the statement about quality and imports being built here, was for all the import guys who say imports are designed and built better....cause in some cases like the new toyota tundra and most hondas, they are designed and built by americans. Lambo i was going to get into every detail about everything, it was just my basic opionion on why i thought people should still respect american cars. The number 1,2,3 assembly plants in the world for quality are all three GM plants. If you ask most people why they think toyota is better or honda. They really cant back themselves up with to much information besides what they "hear through the grape vine". MHW i think was right on the money about the GM comments being over the top. And i to am a GM guy. But i do deff see alot of progress being made to correct their business. Just to simply put i think to many people get deffensive on here, and just should put their bias aside to look at the facts. And i know i have bias ofcourse, but can still see that other cars out there are good for good reason.

If you took the time to look at all sides Lambo you would find out that Domestic manufactures still employee far and away more Americans than the Imports, and they earn more while doing it. You would also find out that American cars have a far higher Domestic content than the Imports regardless of where they are built. It is still a fact that you are helping the American economy more by buying a Cadillac ect. than you are by buying a Toyota ect. even if it happens to be assembled in America. While its true that the Import brands have created new jobs, it has came at a very high price. The quality of the new bread American cars is running at an all time high, and the studies prove it. They still have room for improvement but they are headed in the right direction fast. I do agree with one thing however, GMrules comments are over the top, and thats coming from a GM guy.

anyclearer, jobs going over seas? Are you kidding? Consider all of the THOUSANDS of jobs Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, etc. have created for blue collar American workers here in the U.S....and then compare that to the TENS OF THOUSANDS of blue collar American workers here in the U.S. that have been laid off by GM and Ford closing numerous plants not to mention parts suppliers plants. You're telling us its a shame when people talk about things that they know nothing of, well look at yourself. By the way...what happened to American Pride you ask? Well in the case of cars, it disappeared along with domestic auto quality.

Its a damn shame sometimes when people talk about shit they have no idea. This caddy shows a unique design that the foreign maket isnt going. America is muscle, and this caddy shows it. FYI, to the foreign lovers....most of the foreign cars in america today were design and built in america....by americans....so its by the same people. And what ever happened to American Pride. Noone wants jobs going over seas, but people buy cars that are "from over seas" or atleast owned over seas. Caddy just in the last 7 years has come a long way, and from what i see its only going to get better!! Bravo GM and Cadillac.

yeah i often have that problem, i just have so much stuff i want to say and i really WISH everybody would read my thoughts in their entirety, because as anyone does I consider them very important, and i often find myself writing long ass comments too, but yeah being able to talk to people about cars is sweet, not many places where you can actually do that

IF ALL YOU BOZOS HATE GM SO DAMN MUCH WHE EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME READING OR POSTING AND ARGUING YOUR FRUGAL POINTS TO PEOPLE WHO DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR PERCEPTIONS OF WHAT A CAR SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT BE. COME ON ALREADY CHILDREN WHO CARES WHO`S MOM IS PRETTIER THAN THE WHO`S MOM, YOU BUNCH OF 1ST GRADERS. I ALSO HAVE A NISSAN FRONTIER WHICH IS WAY BELOW THE QUALITY OF MY OLD S10, AT LEAST THAT STARTED, AND THE SPEED SENSOR DIDNT FALL OUT PAST 80 MPH OH YEAH BUT THE DASHBOARD IS SOFT TOUCH, WHO FRIGGIN CARES I DONT SIT ON IT. GM PAYS $100000 A YEAR PLUS HUGE INSURANCE FOR ITS EMPLOYEES. TOYOTA COMES HERE AND PAYS THE SAME JOBS 10 BUCK AN HOUR WITH MINIMAL INSURANCE AND EVERYBODY THINKS ITS GOOD, SURE SOME REDNECKS NOW MAKE MINIMUM WAGE. THE LABOR UNIONS ARE WHAT IS KILLING THE AMERICAN AUTO INDUSTRY, NOT THE PLANNERS AT ANY AMERICAN OWNED AUTO COMPANY. AS FOR AMERICAN CARS BEING BUILT IN MEXICO....WONDERFUL IDEA, IT AT LEAST HELPS MEXICO KEEP SOME OF THEIR LABORERS DOWN THERE. AND JD POWERS IS PUTTING OUT LISTS THAT INCLUDE AMERICAN BRANDS AT THE TOP OF THE INITIAL QUALITY CATEGORY, HARD PLASTIC DASH OR NOT THE INITIAL QUALITY AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS THERE, HOW MANY CARS HAS TOYOTA RECALLED THIS YEAR?????????MORE THAN GM, LESS THAN FORD. AND WHO IS BMW PARTNERING WITH ON HYBRID TECHNOLOGY......GM. THERE ARE STILL A FEW PEOPLE OUT HERE THAT THINK GM IS TURNING ITS SELF AROUND AND FINALLY HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, I KNOW MY CTS PROVES IT. SO ALL THE BIASED HATERS NEED TO STOP ARGUING USELESS POINTS ABOUT CARS MADE LAST CENTURY OR JUST NOT OPEN AND JOIN THE DISCUSSIONS REGARDING GM CARS BECAUSE YOU SOUND LIKE LITTLE KIDS.
P.S. MY TONKA IS BETTER THAN YOUR FISCHER PRICE.

So I'm an asshole now? And that wasn't the point I was trying to make GMrules. This place is pretty pointless, everyone has their opinion on what a good car is and wont sway from it. Cant give a company any credit when its due, and rip on anyone that doesn't agree, this place sucks!

^lol Try the other way around. And GM builds plenty of cars and their full size SUV's in Mexico. Toyota, Nissan and Honda are all opening new facilities within this country and creating jobs. Putz and his cronies have made the push towards China and are abandoning the US market all together. Wouldn"t be surprised if 50% of thier lineup is derived from offshore offerings built by Chinese workers making 2 cents an hour. Then the golden parachutes and Rich corporate philosophy can be preserved as well as the minimal appreciation for the people who actually do the work around there, which is build the damn cars. Assholes, utter assholes. And you and others here support them.

Sad really.

Someone from Mercedes-Benz please write and tell Stuart why he is so wrong.
Selling an S-Class at E-class prices makes no business sense whatsover, and if the new E-Class is sold at S-Class prices then volume would decrease.
The A and B and C-Class sell in large numbers in Europe. How will M-B replace all that lost income.
Please explain how your business model will benefit Mercedes-Benz?

I started off working at a Pontiac dealer, and from there went on to work at a couple Chevy dealers. I moved to Texas and became a salesman at a Toyota dealership, left there and I'm currently working at a Chrysler dealership. I own two Chevrolets myself, my mother owned a Trail Blazer, and now she just has the CTS, we havn't had one problem. I take that back, the factory radio in my Monte Carlo would spit out the CD everynow and than, so I had it replaced. I would rather buy a Chevy over a Toyota. From my experiences Toyotas had more problems. One of my customers brought back his brand new 06 Avalon 30 minutes after he drove it off the lot because all the power inside the vehicle went out as well as the headlights and taillights. Our shop couldn't figure it out so we had to dealer trader for another Avalon. I had better experiences with GM products a opposed to whats supposed to be the king of quality. All Im saying is that every company has its problems. I know a lot of ASE mechanics that will only buy GM products, I know guys that will only buy a Dodge, a lot of them work at the Toyota dealership. I would just like to see people be a little less biased on here, everyone on here seems to be judging GM as well as Ford and Chrysler based on products from the 80's. Reserve your hate towards something until you actually get to try it, than make a decision.

I know a lot of ASE mechanics that will only buy GM products, I know guys that will only buy a Dodge, a lot of them work at the Toyota dealership. I would just like to see people be a little less biased on here, everyone on here seems to be judging GM as well as Ford and Chrysler based on products from the 80’s. Reserve your hate towards something until you actually get to try it, than make a decision.

Wow, one of the most active forums I've seen in a while. All over a tease of a headlight... The pro-GM vs. Anti-GM, the fighting, the name calling, the possibility of identity theft... Wild.

So first off - Chris2, nicely done. Really enjoyed that. Proved some people can't take a joke - (1952 MG TD lighten up)

To the ProGM-vs-NoGM argument, well, as an ASE Service Consultant, and someone very familiar with GMC specifically, I would not personally own a GM vehicle.

The out of the box GM flaws I've had to deal with first hand are appauling. Factory damaged wiring harnesses, due to someone on the assembly line using too long of a bolt for the horn bracket, which just happens to now pierce into the main wiring loom along the frame rail causing all kinds of shorts and cooked modules. A large batch of 8.1L Vortec V8 motors not lasting past 5,000 miles due an oil starvation problem. Bad Delphi electrical connectors at the PCM with pin drag problems causing vehicles to shut down on the highway. Faulty fuel pumps causing relays to overheat so badly the melt into the socket. Bad stuff to see on vehicles less than a year old.

If you're going to buy a GM product, go for it, I won't hate you for it. They are comfy, and have a good warranty, just don't buy the one built on a Friday...

As for this perticular Caddy - I'm not into it. I'm not saying they can't build a nice car, I'm just saying stylistically the whole "art of design" movement started with the EVOQ concept a while back never worked for me. The sharp angles and crashing lines of this modern design theory will make these vehicles seem dated earlier than later. Now my vision of a modern day Cadillac would be something long and low, with smooth clean lines, and be "inspired" from the earlier designs of Harley Earl.

I'll leave some encouraging numbers for those of us who actually like to root for and support the home team. The J.D. Power 2006 Vehicle Dependability Survey reports that Mercury, Buick and Cadillac (in that order) grabbed the No. 2, 3 and 4 spots to beat Toyota, Honda, Nissan, BMW and everyone else (except Lexus) in having the least number of problems per 100 vehicles.

Ford and General Motors have taken turns besting the Toyota Camry in quality surveys for the past two years, but if you talk to many Americans – especially the ones who would never consider supporting home-based auto companies – you'd never know it.

Last year, the Chevrolet Impala beat the Camry in initial quality, according to J.D. Power & Associates. And Consumer Reports just announced that both the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan scored higher than both the Camry and the Honda Accord this year.

FYI, I have asked LLN to look at this link and do something about the bull that is going on. One of the comments is not mine above, hopefully obvious. I hope they require some kind of password to sign on so the names cannot be hijacked.

Per teh JD Power VDS (3 year reliability data) the Mercedes vehicles are even with Chevrolet with about 241 problems per 100 cars. Below the industry average of 227.

Buick and Cadillac are 3 and 4 under Lexus at 153/163 ( and above Toyota).

Mercedes has a reliablity problem. They know it and are working on it.

no im definately not gmlover and i did give bmw props for better interior quality materials, but i also did say i actually have a 525 sitting in my driveway and i like my caddy better. its a matter of opinion, it has given me over 90000 trouble free miles and looks great at the same time. when you have one of each to compare to on a daily basis its a differnt story. i joined today because i was ready to puke reading all of the dumbass comments from s60. the cts is a fine vehicle try actually spending some time in one and you will understand. look how many posts above condem the car and all we see is a picture of the friggin bumper. i am starting to think the rest of you morons work for all the other car companies and need to bash the cadillac because you now realize it is a different and much more superrior product than 5 years ago. would i oun a 1990 sedan de ville? hell friggin no!!!!! would i own a 2008 cts hell yes!!!! come on already how many of you remenber how crappy audis used to also be in the 80`s and 90`s? now they are wonderful cars and if audi can turn around and be universally accepted as a great car how come cadillac cant get the same chance from the rest of you?

ill second the idea of ignoring GMrules, can we add CTSDriver to the same list...im beginning to think they are the same person....

on another note...
i don't like the car...outside of the escalade im not in favor of Cadillac's new styling...
i dont think Caddilac is a better car the Mercedes...
I have an 04 DeVille with 67,000 miles...the transmission has had to been replaced...but nothing else besides tires and basics...but my parents S-Class isnt even in the same league...it's smoother, nicer, more powerful....its jst a better car...

Yeah I prided myself as being on the side of GM fans here who defended their arguments on the General's behalf with some degree of collegiality in the face of the onslaught of overwrought hate-mongering against GM. GMrules has now arrived in an attempt to completely discredit us and give the S-60s and lamborghiniZs of this world the high ground as it were. The only reason I would miss GMrules is because sometimes he is just such a riot.

Anyone who says GMrules is on Lutz's payroll probably also thinks aliens killed JFK, Cheney organized 9/11, and Bush personally unleashed Katrina on New Orleans.

Oh and GMrules, I am awake, and I'm watching with my own two, conscious eyes, GM lose money every year and make shittier vehicles every year, and lose market share to Toyota every year. Just a matter of time before the entire company collapses.

So just ignore him, maybe him and his psychotic bullshit will go away.

Maybe Garbage, I haven't been here all that long, few weeks at most. But I only post under this name, so there are at least few GM fans on here, were just not as obnoxious as most of the Anti GM, Anti-American members on here, with the exception of GMrules. I don't hate a car based on who makes it for the most part, but I do favor GM.

GarbageMotorsCo & Lambo: If GM/Lutz were really trying to boost the popularity of GM vehicles on this site, they'd be posting more realistic/reasonable comments. I think there's a few people posting on this blog who enjoy logging in using other people's ids & posting b.s. just to upset people. I don't think anyone really thinks GMrules comments are "real" (at least I hope not!).

I think LamboZ, that GMrules just another alias for 1 or two individuals who have raped the system and are logging in under 15 different screen names in an attempt to make GM look popular. Up until the last couple of days, any news about GM has been met with "Whatever" and now all of a sudden 100 people show up from out of the woodwork posting under screen names for the VERY first time about how dominating and wonderful GM is all of a sudden. I think GM is being overhyped here and on a few other sites that I visit. I honestly think that Bob Putz or somebody has launched some sneaky forum blitz to make Gm look like a more popular brand than it actually is.

it really seems kinda fishy...

And why is Mercedes calling it the CTC? Because are trying to be like Cadillac with their superior products like the CT-S. Mercedes is copying the winning formula because they know that on their own, they are going to be wiped off the map. They can't compete. They cannot compete with the mighty GM.

Wake up LamborghiniZ. GM is where its at. The rest of the industry is crap. Waste. Garbage. Junk.

Nope, just a diehard, loyal owner of an 03' Chevy Avalanche and a 2005 Cobalt LS. Better cars than any Mercedes, BMW, Honda, Toyota, whatever.

You want to prove to me that BMW's are reliable? Mercedes? Audi's?

Can't do it can you. GM rules. Deal with it.

Nice. Maybe you should donate it to charity? Oh wait, it's a worthless pile of German garbage. Just like the new Bimmers.
