Now I’m NOT saying the ZR1 is a bad car, it’s IMO awesome actually, I really do prefer the looks of it over the GT-R. But if you’re even slightly interested in going around a track the GT-R is just better value for your money.

Davebo: I hear you all the way buddy. Although A ZO6 would be hard to pass up unless you could only afford a regular corvette… As for me I’ll be getting my targa experience in a Solstice Coupe GXP hopefully next year.

That being said, despite this being the first affordable exotic challenger, I’ll be sticking to base corvettes with the Z51 suspension package instead of Z06s or ZR-1′s. Why? Cause I’m a sucker for targa tops and D.C. traffic doesn’t go well with 14mpg.

Run 0-100, or 0-150, or the 1/4 mile or full one mile – that’s where you’ll see the power of this car. Not 0-60. In a full one mile sprint, a GT-R would look like a tiny dot in the rear view mirror of the ZR-1.

Those who have driven high HP RWD vehicles (more than 400hp) know what I’m talking about.

The GT-R isn’t even in the same league. Look at the trap speed – 131 MPH in the 1/4 is brutally fast. The GT-R hits only 118 in the same distance.

Those who claim this car is too expensive don’t have any facts to stand on.

But if Chevrolet wanted to market a 7-Series competitor, no one would buy it…just like no one bought the VW Phaeton.

It’s marketing a brand identity.

Those #’s seem conservative to me as well. It’ll do 60 in 3 flat for sure…

Comparable Ferraris and Lambos will always hold their value better. All the better for car enthusiasts. These cars are meant to be driven and this gives mere financial mortals the chance to pick up a world class used supercar in a few years.

Actually unlike the ZO6, and base Corvette that I will see on car haulers with Malibus, Aveo, Cobalts and Impalas I heard that the ZR1′s are actually going to be shipped all by themselves.

That costs money. But it’s included in the $103,300 price.

Wow. Lodge your complaint at the door of all the other supercar manufacturers that build and sell cars with less performance, poorer fuel economy, and at higher prices than GM’s doing with the ZR1.

Honestly. I think that if GM made the best-built, most reliable car on the market, made it go 250mph in 2.5 seconds, get 250mpg, slapped a 2.5 million mile warranty on it, and sold it for free, people would still be giving GM a hard time for the mistakes of 10-30 years ago.

But I would NEVER pay this much for a Corvette. And a $10,000 interior package??? What’s it lined with Italian leather???

Of course seeing that these are going to be sold in limited #’s and will be going for well over 105k but jeez… I’ll take a ZO6 and get the level of performance that the ZR1 delivers for a fraction of the cost…

I just hope that the C7 has a better interior, better body hardware, and doens’t look like just another facelift of the ’84 model.
