General Motors says that it will be investing $100 million into its Rochester (New York) Operations to improve production of its small block car and truck engines.

The investment will add 30 jobs to the upstate New York plant that GM has operated since 1939.

The automaker says that it plans to “enhance” four product assembly lines that build engine components shipped to plants in Tonawanda, New York, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, and Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.

GM builds integrated air modules, high-pressure fuel rails, lifter oil manifold assemblies and direct injection injectors in Rochester that it uses in a variety of powerplants. The Rochester facility is represented by the UAW, although it does not assemble vehicles.
