Even though the brand is officially dead, General Motors is recalling 10,119 Pontiac Vibe hatchbacks over brake vacuum components that can freeze in very low ambient temperatures. The recall covers Vibes sold or currently registered in 19 northern states.
GM says that dealers will inspect and modify the brake vacuum lines on those Vibes covered by the recall. Vibes operated in warmer climate states are not being recalled, but GM has issued a service bulletin to modify the brake line for free.

The automaker says that the issue won’t prevent Vibes from coming to a stop, but it will increase stopping distances should the line freeze.

It is unclear if the Toyota Matrix , which was built along side the nearly-identical Vibe in a GM- Toyota joint-venture in California, will be recalled.
