General Motors has announced the recall of certain 2012 Cadillac CTS models produced between October 21, 2011 and October 26, 2011. The recall is due to a potential issue with the vehicle’s braking system.

According to GM, some CTS models may have left the factory brake boost pushrod retention nut that was not torqued to the proper specifications. That could allow the nut to loosen, causing the pushrod to detach from the brake pedal.

If that scenario occurs, the driver would lose the ability to brake, greatly increasing the risk of a crash.

GM dealers will remedy the problem by ensuring all nuts are torqued to proper specification. The recall, which covers 674 vehicles, began on November 1.
