We would love to get a hold of one of the pre-production models to build as a show vehicle and do the necessary leather & suede upgrades and the sweet custom audio upgrades it so desparately needs. When GM is in the design process for the interior somehow they leave us over at Stitchcraft out and what a possitive difference we would make. When we get one of these beuties, you will see it at the SEMA Show and the show curcuit and the interior will be an award winning interior worth checking out. In the meantime, just sit back & relax and let GM do their thing.

This car is BEAUTIFUL! I wouldn’t change a thing. My boyfriend in high school (who is now my husband) had a sweet 69 camaro in the early eighties. We cannot wait to purchase one.

I’ll have to agree with BAMF, it is not as retro as Mustang or Challenger, and is somewhat modern.

Hi BAMF,

maybe you’re right, but maybe american design in it’s substance just is “retro-ish”. There’s nothing wrong in retro or being retro-ish, but as DaveO points out, this Camaro ’s arriving a couple of years too late for the party and I fear, maybe wrongfully, that the party in question allready is over?

Retro is GOOD.

Look at this 2006 Capri RS MkIV Concept by a talented modeller and Capri fan:

Retro looks, but beefy and with some modern touches… I like it a LOT.

It’s far better than Ford’s own Capri concept which looked like a Focus hit by a truck crossed with a Cougar on steroids… it had the bonnet bulge, but that was ALL that was Capri about it.

I disagree with a lot of what you all have been saying. I see this as more of a return to American styling, and less of a “retro” thing. I dont think these cars look like they’re from 1969 or whichever year they try to model (with the exception of the challanger, which is WAY retro– maybe too retro for its own good? even though i think i’m in love with it). I think they look thoroughly modern– especially this new camaro. In fact I’d say it has to be the most modern/futuristic of all of them.

See, I think you guys are thinking too much along the lines of “this car very much resembles the car from 1960-something, and therefore it is retro.” I’d say its a return to what the car was intended to look like. I seriously HOPE none of you would rather this new Camaro look like a modulation from the last Camaro that Chevy sold. Am I wrong? Please comment.

Very nice looking but when it eventually arrives they will have bean-counted it so badly that it will be Cobalt quality. Not to mention that they will again be arriving to the party (retro-muscle craze) 1 to 2 years too late.

Madcapp, what should GM do to accomodate you, futuristic arts and sciences, or retro since you just bagged on GM for doing both, I’m under the impression that you just hate GM and will not give them any credit for anything they do. This car will blow the mustang away no matter when it comes out.

I disagree, this is a great concept and hopefully it will be a Reality. I am just thinking that it should be a 2008 model line-up not a 2009 or 2010.By 2010 people may not be as interested, since the Mustang has been selling well and the Nissan GT-R will be arriving in the US in 1-2 years and the Dodge Challenger is a Go for production. Let’s go Chevrolet and GM, time is a wasting by not selling this car.

its hard for an american company to focus on the future when theres no light at the end of the tunnell. Dwelling on the past might rescue these companies for a few more years, hell its there only successful years.

looks too much like that Cadillac “arts and sciences” crap. And by 2010, even the hardcore fans are gonna be sick of retro.
