General Motors has released a second teaser shot of the upcoming Opel Insignia. The all-new Insignia — which was formerly know as the Opel/Vauxhall Vectra — is set to bow at the London Motor Show in July. The new Insignia will take many of its styling cues from the Opel GTC Concept that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show last March.
The Insignia is scheduled for production at GM’s Rüsselsheim, Germany plant, alongside other models underpinned by the Epsilon 2 platform. The Insignia will be offered as a sedan, wagon and five-door hatchback.
The Saturn Aura is scheduled to switch to the Epsilon 2 platform — in 2011 — so look for a re-badged version of the Insignia on our shores early next decade.
When the all-new Aura does start production, it will be offered with both four and six-cylinder engines, and possibly even the hybrid system used in the Chevrolet Malibu.

Here is a really funny video with the car in it. It’s a spoof of what a spy photographer goes through to capture a photo. Well worth your time to watch – and you’ll laugh a few times.

As much as I like the current Aura, this small photo has me anxiously awaiting the arrival of the next generation. I don’t care if it’s called Vectra, Aura, Insignia, etc., if the rest of the vehicle is as interesting as this shot suggests, GM appears to have another winner waiting in the wings.

I don’t care if they call it the “Saturn 1115″ or “Opel 1115″ or whatever, but …..
…. why mess with an established name? Does it have a bad connotation in Europe? I don’t recall anyone in Germany bad-mouthing the Vectra’s too much, so what is the point?

Looking at that GTC concept, is this to say the next Calibra will be called Insignia, or Vectra? The Calibra was the sporty 2-door like the concept.

Wasn’t Insignia the name of a really good-looking concept that GM put out about 5 years ago which was supposed to inspire a new Opel / Vauxhall flagship? Now its become a lame rebrand of the terminally dull Vectra.
