I never said anything about Toyota dominating hybrid sales btw… But having 4 products that I can purchase on the lot TODAY is something that I cannot do at a GM dealer. So ya Toyota is ahead here.

Toyota (including Lexus) truck sales for January 2006 72,008. FACT look it up. Whats the gas mileage on Toyota suv’s? Total January 2006 sales of Lexus, Toyota and Scion (car and truck) was 160,625. So that means nearly 45% of Toyota sales are trucks. Seems like Toyota is relying on sales of trucks too doesn’t it?

Hybrid sales are a small percentage of the total market.

I can count (10) new GMT900 SUV’s, two new Fullsize pickup truck LINES (light, medium, heavy) and a whole brand DEVOTED to consuming as much gas as possible (HUmmer). Now we have (3) new Crossovers to join a lineup of (5) different clones of the Trailblazer, and a Caddy Griswald family truckster (SRX). Not even close, your argument is cowshit.

People so determined to criticize GM HAVE the facts in hand, people who choose to defend GM manage to twist the truth into their own percieved notion that GM can do no wrong… Guess what, making Toyota a scapegoat for your little argument is getting you nowhere.

You simply cannot attack GM for poor mpg and not attack Toyota for poor mpg. Toyota fleet mpg has steadily declined for the past 20 years. GM hybrids (bus) save more fuel that all of Toyota hybrids. How about a 520hp factory suv (Cayenne Turbo S). How about the low mpg of Porsche, Ferrari, Land Rover, Lamborghini, Jaguar, etc….

How was any part of my post ignorant? This is NOT a nation-wide rebate. This is NOT a rebate, it is a subsidy (I know… they are close in deffinition.)

You will bend over backwards and display your ignorance you defend GM. Do you believe they are immue to criticism? Sematics don’t matter here, the end result is the same. You buy the vehicle and get a “discount” of some sort, It’s all MARKETING. Fuel subsidy, rebate, employee discount.. there is really no difference in the end.

To be eligible to participate in the GM Fuel Price Protection Program, you must take retail delivery of an eligible 2006 or 2007 model year new vehicle between May 25, 2006 and July 5, 2006.

GM’s calcualtor says I’d save $2,000 on gas if I drive 20k a year in my brand new ’07 Tahoe. I’d rather have it as a rebate off the top.

NATIONAL rebates… semantics matter. there are only a few areas being offered that.

Besides, that is a fuel subsidy, not a vehicle rebate.

Guys like Friedman are completely governed by their emotions, no logic. If they had any logical train of thought, then they would lump Ferraris, Vipers, Porsche Cayennes, Conversion Vans, and all the other vehicles of similarity into his arguments. But the Hummer has snob appeal. People who love to show off buy Hummers. And THAT is what people like Friedman despise about the Hummer.
