General Motors today reported an overall sales decline of 6.8 percent compared with September 2005. The overall total was impacted in part by a 26 percent decrease in sales to daily rental companies — part of GM’s plan to eliminate low-margin sales. Retail truck sales, led by full-size pickups and utilities, were up 2 percent. Retail car sales were down 12 percent, partly due to inventory constraints of Chevrolet Aveo, Cobalt and Malibu.
Buick sales were down 11.1 percent, Cadillac sales were up 17.8 percent, Chevrolet down 10.6 percent, GMC up 1.1 percent, Hummer down 11.6 percent, Pontiac down 13.6 percent, Saab up 48.8 percent, and Saturn up 4.4 percent. [data sheet].

Who the hell buys Saab’s anymore. Jeezus, can’t you just buy a Chevy and be done with it?

Saab is still down 40 something percent on sales for the whole year. Saab right now has some very impressive lease deals going. If you are looking for a vehicle in the class that they make then they are a viable alternative.

If you want a car guaranteed to break down and cost you a lot of money, Saab is your brand.
.
Like a friend once said about his Saab … “best car I ever owned, and I’ll never buy another one.”

I’ve read some message boards posts from people who have gotten fantastic deals on the Saabaru 9-2x’s as GM is now washing theirs hands of them.

I have a Saab 9-3 Aero Conv and I love it. I have never had any problem with it except for a bad battery that Saab replaced without any cost for me.

I’d get a Saab 9-3 SportCombi without hesitation. Those are some sexy cars x10. As for GM I’m glad they continue to scale back on the fleet sales, thats very important if they want to get transaction prices/resale value/perceived value up. Chevrolet being down so much is kind of surprising though. Pontiac is going to struggle for awhile, they only have the Solstice & G6’s to drive any sort of traffic into their showrooms. The rest of their lineup is pretty crappy. Same goes for Buick.

Random Jerk: Have you ever driven a 9-2x? It can’t get out of it’s own way. I thought they were awesome until I test drove one. No way would I buy one…WAY TOO SLOW.

No, I haven’t driven a 9-2x, but I have driven a WRX which is basically the 92-X Aero. You do know that these “Saab’s” are rebaged Subaru’s, right?
WAY TOO SLOW? Compared to what in this price range? I’d hardly call the WRX/Aero with 230HP & 235 ft/lbs. AWD slow.

Random Jerk: When you add the words “in this price range,” I guess what you said would be accurate. However, I wasn’t limited to that price range, so I said no & bought something else. And yes, I know all about it being a re-badged Subaru…which I also consider overpriced & underpowered. I like the Outback but refuse to pay $30,000 so that I can have the options I want & only end up with a 4-cylinder.

GM needs to build more gas guzzling utes in order to survive. The world needs more Hummers and GMT900 SUV’s and trucks and I want a new addition on my mansion.
So please support GM and head to your local Hummer dealer and by an H3 or better yet, an H2!
Thank you GM

Who gives a **** about GM anyways? Geeze, they’ll be #2 by the end of next year. And then they’ll be fighting it out with Ford and Chrysler for that spot. They blong somewhere around #10 if you base their position on effort… or lack of.

Wow, that was constructive.
I hope Toyota destroys GM and Chrysler and Ford follow while picking up the scraps. An even better scenario would be to have Chrysler or Ford in the top spot though, not Toyota.
GM doesn’t even try to be #1. They throw in the towel after they have something that drives and can make it around the block in one piece. If it makes it, it goes into production.
