After a brief factory hold, General Motors has resumed shipments of manually equipped Chevrolet Camaro SS models. The Camaro’s Oshawa, Ontario stopped shipping Camaro SS models with manual transmissions earlier this month due to a defect, but GM says it has corrected the problem.
According to Camaro PR man Adam Denison, GM has corrected the problem with the Camaro SS’ manual transmission but has no plans to reveal what led to the stop shipment order. “I think they want to keep that one pretty close to their chest,” Denison told the New York Times.
A few cars are being held for inspection, but Camaro SS models are once again rolling out of the Oshawa plant. Despite the issue with the six-speed unit, no recall is expected. Only about 12 Camaro SS owners have reported the problem.
