At the same time, Toyonda are both doing worse than EVER. Recalls, poorly designed cars, increasing fleet sales, and more. That is why the essence of my argument here is that domestics (especially GM) are good enough to be considered because as of right now (and since 2005 or so) they have been on par with Toyonda. Less recalls, better styled cars, catching up in resale, surpassed in design..... When I got my CTS I shopped a 3 series, a Lexus IS, and an Audi A4 (C-Class was not really out yet and I don't consider Acura to be a true luxury brand, just imported European Hondas). I didn't look at Infiniti either because I don't like my dealer. Either way, I shopped them all and decided on several factors.
