For those more endowed, may we suggest Hummer, for those elite individuals who choose more enriched means of living and thriving off this great planet Earth.

Understand this folks, it is not planet Earth that will pay the bills, do your work, provide for your families, make you satisfied, no. It is a resource, a tool in which we use to survive, not a thing of great importance, not a being of high value. Use it, embrace it and ignore those false consequences. This Earth owes us nothing, it is ripe for the taking so enjoy my friends, drink up for the sake of happiness and gluttony.

You can state as much factual evididence as you like, I know one thing though: It didnt used to rain at my local mountain.

Now, it isnt as big a problem as the medie tries to purvey it as, but it is an issue nontheless.

It’s not like global warming will be the apocolypse, It just speeds up earths natural climate cycles.

Piablo, thanks for injecting some intelligence into this site, a site thats full of morons.

Although showing them hard evidence that other companies commit the same emmission crimes as GM, they still argue thier ignorant, hypocritical arguements.
Like casting pearls before swine.

But to make my position clear, I acknowledge global warming, it is a huge problem. What burns my ass is when people call GM a company devoted to destroying our environment. That is simply not true.

Did no one see the Volt concept? That system will be by far the most fuel efficient and eco-friendly vehicle out there when it finally reaches production.

Some people need SUV’s, like the one’s that the neighbors and co-workers have, to take the kids to soccer games, go out to the mall, Starbucks runs, etc. It’s awesome how GM made a smaller version of the H2 for people who care about gas prices and stuff.

One question: I just don’t know why anyone would compare this to the FJcruiser ar a lowly Jeep? The only time I see one of those things is when they are on the side of the highway dead or on the back of a flatbed truck! Yet I see Hummers everywhere, the dealers can;t keep them on the lots. Maybe the eco-geeks need to get a real SUV and not some wannabe huh?

Shut up PLEASE. Hummers don’t sell in the numbers necessary to cause an oil dependancy. GM’s Full Sizers are the most fuel efficient. Where’s the Honda bashing? The Midsized Ridgeline gets like 1 MPG better than the old Silverado Crew! The Tahoe also gets better MPG than anything in its class. That includes the Land Cruiser and the Sequoia. At least GM is pushing through E85 to help reduce oil dependancy and they’re the closest to giving us fuel cell vehicles…
Anyone bashing GM because of “oil consumption” is a complete moron….

Fatstrat, take a look at the Expedition. It can seat 7 to 8, has 300hp and is capable of towing up to 9,000 lbs. Price starts at $29,995. And that includes roll stability control and head curtain airbags. Head over to Ford.com and build yourself one to your needs. You’re likely to find that it will beat the competition in price and features for that price.
Gm can’t match it’s ride quality, because of Ford’s independant rear suspension, or Ford’s fold flat third row. Gm’s doesn’t fold into the floor so it must be removed to use all of your cargo space. Chevy also uses a 4-speed while Ford supplies a 6-speed as standard equipment. Edmunds.com has a good comparison test up between the Expedition and the Tahoe. Oh, and since everyone else is talking about fuel mileage the Expedition gets 14city/20highway.

All vehicles have the same emmissions ratings for their class. I dare someone to argue with me on this. The rest of your comments are pointless, you haven’t a clue about marketing. Every vehicle made has multiple variations. Last I knew, choice was a good thing.

i got the fuel economy/emissions info from http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/22514.shtml and it rates each on greenhouse gas emission and air pollution – if you click on search by class, you can clearly see that the jeeps do terribly on pollution compared to the rest of the SUVs, since i don’t know much about it i’m not trying to argue anything, just bringing it up. i have many clues about marketing but brought up the increased number of models with very little difference (and having it make headlines) for psychological reasons.

Also, Kudos to Scott Kempton for pointing out that the manufacturers follow the market, not vice versa. With the possible exception of the Cimmaron and Catera. And the Aztec. But then they sold a lot more of those than they should have. Go figure.

Anyway, I would also add that in light of the burning/defacing sprees by Greenpeace (peace?!) and their ilk perpetrated upon SUVs, I think the old punishment for horse thieves (death) should be applied to car thieves/burners. The horse of yesterday and the auto of today are analogous. There are few things lower than taking away a man’s wheels. Again, I go back to the market-driven manufacturers: If enough people demand fuel efficiency, or vow to stop buying Hummers, trust me, GM will stop cranking them out. But if I heard correctly Hummer had a banner year in ’06 despite oil prices, so I think that makes it clear how far away we are.

To anyone calling this or any other SUV ‘worthless’ or ‘useless’ how about you pick out my next car for me, ok?
Here is what I need…
Seating for at least 6
Reasonable off road capability
Towing capacity of approx. 7000LBs.
Also, I am not wealthy. I cannot afford multiple cars to serve every purpose. I need one vehicle that can fill all those needs. Unfortunatly that means that I will also drive it to work every day, usually by myself.

I await your answers with great anticipation.

This criticism, about GM making gas guzzlers, burns my biscuits! Let’s see, Toyota just introduced the world’s largest, and most powerful, regular production pick-up, but where is the outrage of the GM-bashers???? Toyota also makes the really large Sequoia, Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Lexus LX450, and Lexus GX450. All of these V8 powered SUVs are NOT examples of fuel-efficiency. Add to this list the V6 powered SUVs: Toyota FJ Cruiser, V6 4Runner, V6 RAV4, Highlander, Lexus RX350, and Lexus GX350, and you will see that Toyota should never be considered “Green”, or “Eco-Friendly”. Let’s not even mention the thirsty Lexus LS450, or Lexus GS450, and now the Lexus IS-F (which all sport a big, thirsty, 4.5 liter V8)! All of those V8, V10, and V12 powered BMWs, and Mercedes should not be overlooked, either! If you are going to throw around blame, then distribute it evenly! I am a car enthusiast, which means that I love horsepower, displacement, and a large number of cylinders. I am not going to criticize any of these comapnies, for making exciting products, especially when they also make fuel-efficient models. If the Hummer burns too much gas for you, then buy a Malibu, Cobalt, Aveo, ION, AURA, G5, G6, or LaCrosse, all fine and fuel-efficient models, from GM.

To add to Piablo’s last point. Not that it matters to anyone whose sole decision is based on greenhouse gases, but all the SUVs that Zorlox compared to require high-octane fuel -including the FJ. I may be wrong, but I don’t think the I-5 engine requires premium. There can be a substantial fuel cost difference between the two. Does a hummer driver (or any SUV) care about fuel cost? That’s not for me to decide.

Zorlox – Read the Car and Driver article, I have the issue. ‘If we had to pick which one of these to take on another off-roading trip, H3, hands down.’ I paraphrase. So you’ve forced me to do a little homework to prove my point. Here are the EPA gas milage ratings found on Yahoo Autos, for those who refuse to hear any information without a cited source: H3 – 15/20, Fj – 17/21, Range Rover – 14/19, LR3 – 14/19, BMW X5 – 15/21, Porsche Cayenne – 15/20. All of these sampled with an auto transmission and 6 cylinder when available. LR2 and X3 not applicable because they are built on car platforms. Now, if you want to split hairs over 1 or 2 mpg, I guess I didn’t realize that the cutoff for a vehicle to be called a gas guzzler and pointless was 17mpg, and 15mpg is simply a burden to mother nature. As to less gas milage emitting more or less so-called green house gases, the two are completely unrelated. The emissions control systems of a vehicle control that, namely the catalytic converter. Try again. Want to reduce emissions, simply drive less. All vehicles have the same emmissions ratings for their class. I dare someone to argue with me on this. And to the retard who thinks it’s okay for a very expensive vehicle to get bad gas milage while cheaper ones shouldn’t because the “elites” buy them, it’s nice to know the class system is alive and well in your tiny skull.

Garbage Motor Co. – You are missing the point about Hummer’s critics. An H2 is no larger or smaller than a Tahoe, Seqouia, Expedition, Armada, etc… Yet none of those vehicles are anywhere close to being criticised to the extent of Hummer. It’s the hypocrisy that is so unnerving. If one is concerned about emmisions and global warming, get the facts straight. A vehicle’s size has nothing to do with it. Gas milage doesn’t either. Vehicle emmisions do. And ALL vehicles legally on the road meet EPA standards. got a beef with emmisions? Take it up with the EPA. The only thing milage has to do with is oil consumption and where one feels it’s okay to get our oil. The size of a vehicle MAY reduce gas consumption, but clearly a tiny Cayenne gets just as bad milage as a big ugly H3.

For all you guys who think the Hummer is a pointless brand, I have to agree that it IS pointless—-for me. (I wouldn’t be caught dead in a Hummer, but I DO like the Impala, the upcoming ’08 Malibu, the HHR, and the Volt concept.) But apparently, there are lots of folks for whom a Hummer is the ideal ride. Enough so that they choose them from amongst a sea of gas-guzzling competitors (mostly imports) by plunking down their own hard-earned cash to buy one. If you and I don’t like them, then we don’t have to buy one. GM makes plenty of other vehicles that are much more “ecologically responsible” that we can choose from.

And remember—GM is in the business of selling cars and trucks. If there is a market for gas-guzzling behemoths, blame the market, not GM. People don’t buy Hummers because GM makes them; GM makes them because people want them. If people suddenly stop wanting them, you can bet your booty that GM will stop making them in a heart beat.

Wookie I work for Chrysler so I drive 4 door Wrangers like everyday, I think and H2 or H3 is much nicer. And if people were idiots I wouldnt have to worry about what vehicle Im driving being vandelized. Whats next after SUV’s, Pick ups? Sports cars? Luxury cars? Before all you know it the only thing left if a damn bike. I just want the right to pick a vehicle based on what I want, not what Hippy Joe thinks I should be driving. BTW I dont even like trucks and suvs, I just like the fact that people are always trying to take away another one of my rights.

Yes starting Hummers on fire is a great idea. Because that will cause our atmosphere more problems than the driving of the Hummers ever will. FJ Cruiser 4X4 4.0L 239 hp V6 16 / 19
MT H3 Base 3.7L 242 hp I5 15 / 20

fj cruuiser gets 1 mpg less on the highway than the h3 and 1 mpg more in the city, so the average is the same.
just pulled this off on msn auto`s comparison.
why would toyota also add to this?
