Two Tings!
One, you are telling me things I already know, but aren't relevant
Two, the hybrid, or electric (the Volt hasn't been officially classified yet), is at it's best in the city.
But most city dwellers DON'T have garages, so they can't charge those batteries as needed.

Apparentgly you haven't read my many compliments about GM on this very site.
They are THE ONLY domestic mounting a credible product portfolio.
GM's problem is the same as Ford's and Chrysler's
When you spend 20 years or more, roughly 1980-2000, making monkey crap, you lose a lot of market share.
That market now drives Toyotas and Hondas, and aren't coming back.
You can't build good cars for 5 years out of 25 and survive a competitive marketplace.

The domestics want to pin this on the economy, but it just sped up theinevitable.
The domestics have been screwing around FOR DECADES!
That's what you git!
(I think a Republican said that to them today)

But I am in favor of the bailout, as is my man Obama, so they will get it
Won't solve the problem doh.

Dr.Fill: you are such a moron! please think before you write! Lesson: Plug in Hybrid and Plug in Electric are completely different. I see that you can read the brochure because you're right about the 40 miles autonomy but if you would have read a bit further, it also tells you that the Volt is equipped with a small fuel powered generator that will extend your drive to just over 600 miles. The average american drives less that 40 miles per day to get to and from work. That means that the only cost of operating the vehicle is the cost of electricity. As for most comments you have against GM, may be you should think for a second: Yes GM was selling mostly SUV's and trucks but only because PEOPLE wanted them. If you understand basic commerce you will know that you are better off selling what people want. Yes GM is hurt but in all fairness, GM's restructuring plan not only makes sens but it was well on track to bring profitability back by 2010. Unfortunately as you may be aware (since you seem to read so much) American banks are not lending any money to anyone... the industry forecast for 2008 was to sell 15 million cars but things took a bad turn starting in August and plunging to a ridiculous 10.5 million units. Remember that even Toyota, Honda are feeling this. As for GM's quality... well...if you're so much into automobiles, you must have seen that the latest products have been winning awards after awards for quality, safety, design, etc...

As it stands now, the Volt is the only product GM can dangle in front of DC to get their billions to piss away (just like they did investors money). Practically speaking it is a no starter. It will cost 40 large to acquire during recession which was started by tighter loan regulations. It sits 4 and has a Chevy bow tie. Who are Volt customers? My guess is that 90% of people who are not troubled by credit crunch don't drive Chevys. This car is a political statement not a money maker and you don't need to be a congressional lawyer to realize this.

Is this simply a PR move to keep interest in the Volt? Essentially this is nothing more than digital magic than can be done by the minute with a billion permutations.

The Volt IS A PLUG-IN
It goes 40 miles on pure electric, but needs 8 hours on 110 volt to fully recharge an empty battery
Unless you have a home with a garage, that might be impossible
If you drive less than 40 miles a day, it will need to be plugged in daily to get the full benefit of the powertrain

This is definitely a great car but one little detail to LLN. IT IS NOT A PLUG IN HYBRID!!! Please get your info correctly. it is a full electric car with a gas generator that ONLY recharges the batteries.

I think there are some good changes, but some bad ones, too. The new cup holders are much better, since they now have the place for your mug handle. But the cover over the center storage box looks cheaper now. I liked the old version of that. The air vents looked more refined in the old one. But I really like the addition of some color in the center stack. The red and blue are easily understandable. Also, it seems the screen is a bit larger in the center stack, and that the buttons near the bottom have been lifted up. Overall, the changes are very subtle, but they are more masculine than they were before. There are a few chrome things that they left out, like the button that opens the box behind the center screen. However, that's probably a good thing, as that button would be in sunlight any time the car is out in the daytime, which would make that button really hot. I also don't really like the new armrests on the doors. The old ones seemed a bit more elegant. Overall, though, the pros outweigh the cons concerning this update. I really like what I see. Good job. Now let's just hope this sees production.

There are a few chrome things that they left out, like the button that opens the box behind the center screen. However, that’s probably a good thing, as that button would be in sunlight any time the car is out in the daytime, which would make that button really hot. I also don’t really like the new armrests on the doors. The old ones seemed a bit more elegant. Overall, though, the pros outweigh the cons concerning this update. I really like what I see. Good job. Now let’s just hope this sees production.

Very nice. I actually like this car alot. Better looking than the current Prius by a long-shot. Center console reminds me of Apple's old Ipod models(first ones). Nice modern approach, yet not overdone.

Hopefully they do well with this one. Could be a make or break model.
Hopefully this isn't another ill-fated EV-1.

The updates look better AND more marketable than the previous version, which looked more like a concept.
