I am A CTS owner I own a 2005 3.6 V6 Model (great car with a nice powerband). I have owned a BMW M3 in the past and I absolutely love my CTS! I am hoping that Cadillac has designed the new CTS to behave as well or better than the current CTS. Most of all I hope the new CTS-V retains an LS engine (LS2 or LS7). It would be wise for Cadillac to make an automatic option along with its current 6-speed (Preferably an SMG Style automatic) option for the CTS-V this time around. If the new CTS-V comes out with an automatic or SMG option I will be purchasing a 2008 CTS-V with no doubt! Great Job Cadillac with the current CTS and CTS-V.

I don't think the production car will have that much bling in the grille.
If you prefer a Passat/A4 over a CTS, great.
My experience with a Passat was not good, so I am passing on that car.

The concept pictured above would have to be revealed at the L.A. Show for the production model to be at Detriot. Anyone know for sure?

"Anybody else notice the grille frame drops below 'bumper' strikeface, ala new Audi nose, just more angular??? The huge GRILLE is back."

It only takes one idiot in their Chevy Lumina to use your car as their parallel parking sensor to shatter those grilles in the real world...

"i did spend $6k rebuilding the blown engine on my 1.8t at 83,000 miles..."

Would that be after the mega-hp mods that you tell us make the Audi so superior?

Mtbsteve. I'll give up everything and buy a Cadillac!!! The fact that your buddy had a service issue is your only argument? Nothing good to say about "Grandpas of America" favorite brand? I'll keep my Passat. Thanks.

" who cares about a new CTS??
I enjoy safety, resale value, decent MPG, and German engineering; i'll stick with the Passats and A4s. "

Wow, you must have never owned either car. I have friends with with an '01 Passat V6 and an '00 A4 1.8T. I would never wish these cars on my worst enemy! I have driven the Passat roughly 1000 miles and can say that it drives nice with a nice interior but that is it, the transmission lags from a start and just feels strange. The A4 went through a transmission at 50k miles then an engine at 55k, good thing my brother fought Audi for months and got his $10k for those repairs back. Only buy these cars (any German car) if you can be the original owner and keep it under 30k miles and have a warranty. I want to like these cars because of how they drive but the repairs are ridiculous for a low mileage car.

The first-generation CTS was and is a hallmark for Cadillac in its spartan, but crisp design. Now that Lutz's has gotten his hands on it—in his reincarnate quest for both his own life and what was so long ago in Cadillac, but long lost nowadays—the front end looks like Tammy Faye Bakkers' face. Waaaaaaay to much chrome and gaudiness. Oh well, the first-generation will go down in history as desirable.
