The Denali concept was comissioned to Holden by GMC and based on the Zeta platform. Holden built a 4 door ute (vy, vz) called the Crewman which was popular with fleets (gov agencies) as well as contractors, but it was dropped from the range with the intrduction of the ve (zeta) platform.

NOOO! I liked the Pontiac G8ST. It looked like a sick muscle car with a pickup bed. Performance, utility, and still get good gas mileage. If they built it light it could get 30+mpg with a 4 cylinder and manual transmission.

Dropping this bodyshell onto the existing Holden Ute would have been a quicker, cheaper method to expand the GMC line.. and a much smarter choice than trying to sell it as a Pontiac G8!

Disappointing, Scion will definitely be releasing a pick up truck similar in nature and it will be successful. Whenever GM has the opportunity to exploit a possible market trend/niche, the bean counters quash it. Where's Bob Lutz when you need 'em.

What any ugly looking truck. No wonder GM went into bankruptcy. That truck looks like something a fat child molester who still lives with his mom would drive. GM and Buick- no innovative products, too late in the game, two thousand steps behind Toyota and Honda.

the Ridgeline Fails almost the same mpg as a full size truck with less power and less towing. that why some one need to make one right that get good mpg and more livable if they can do that that i think it would be a success

The ridgeline is supposed to be one of those lifestyle vehicles for people that haul kayaks and moutain climbing equipment everywhere they go to show how "extreme" they are, despite the fact the vehicle is practically useless... Im glad GM didnt jump on board with the trend....good looking truck though...

Like I said in the post on the Lincoln MKT, the people who buy trucks like the Ridgeline buy them cause they THINK they're getting better fuel economy. The 2 mpg gain or so wouldn't come into peoples minds as a miniscule gain, but theyll look at a unibody pickup truck, just like they look at crossovers, and go "oh hey that must get better mileage im gonna buy it" ...like idiots.

I think there's a pretty good sized market for it especially since so many of us have owned unibody SUVs for many years now. I'd love to move to a pickup that gets somewhat decent MPG but do not need a full size one and what's available in mid size are either old or agriculture in nature, or in the Ridgeline case too FUGLY to ever consider.

well this is unfortunate to see. If once company can produce a good Unibody truck (CUT??) they could hit gold i think in the future if done right. if it could get mid to hight 20mpg on the highways unloaded and still be able to haul 3500+lb (with decent power) when needed and fit 4x8 sheets in back i feel like they could have a big seller.

I feel it can be done, if the 300hp Camaro can get 29mpg i don't see why they could not get mid 20s form a unibody truck. If something like that was out i would strongly consider it.

I dunno denver, that would be too daring for GM to make the first entry into the compact unibody truck market... that's more toyota/honda's speed. BUT if GM did, id be interested

I know that Hybrids are not everyones favorite, but it does not say that they tried to put their 2-mode Hybrid system in it. If the mammoth Escalade can get an EPA rating of 20 mpg and still have the capability of towing a boat then this smaller D-XT can obtain a greater fuel economy with the same system. I would like a unibody pickup, but the Escalade EXT/Avalanche are just more than what I need in price and size and the Ridgeline is just to ugly. This would have made a great option, that is if the production model would not have been watered down. Maybe with time, they can develop better tech to decrease the fuel consumption and price of production. GM says that the next generation Volt systems would be cheaper to produce and more efficient, so this may be a future option for the D-XT. Anyhow, with the scrapping of this model, hopefully something better can take its place. Perhaps the next Canyon/Colorado can pull from the D-XT's design elements.

The more I look at this truck, the more I wish GM had put some of these design elements on the new Torrain, especially the rectangular vs square grille and the rounded wheel fender lines.

WHAT????

If based on the Lambda platform, it could easily have had 6000lbs towing and gotten 15% better fuel economy than a Silverado.

Now if GM is designing a new midsize BOF pickup and that is there reference point, then I can see their point.

In which case, GM should build a better Tacoma and put one in my driveway.

The Pantyliner doesn't sell worth a sh*t anyway and even Ford's killing the Sport Trac so why bother with a competitor? Toyota is apparently going to bring out their A-BAT thing so let those two fight it out over nothing.

Flashy concept...but glad they canned the idea. It would have probably turned out to be a watered-down, lame pickup like the Honda Gayline.

I wondered what ever happened to this after seeing it at the show. It looked great in-person. What the Ridegline SHOULD have been, versus the cartoon mess it became.

Downsize it a bit and it would be a great replacement for the Colorado/Canyon
