Who could argue with teaching inner city kids to draw cars under the guidance of GM designers? The problem, like most things, was in the execution. I find it extremely hard to believe that of the thousands of kids in Detroit, or even just the 50 that participated in the program, that these five drawings were the best of the best. I'm not saying we should be expecting to see outstanding sketches, or even Bangle-bad sketches, from these kids because they obviously haven't had the years of training to hone their skills. I'm just saying that after 16+ hours of working on these drawings, this was the best of the best? From everything I’ve read on the program, I think it was a fairly good idea.
