GM to announce employee pricing sale

08/18/2008, 4:26 PM

By Drew Johnson

General Motors is set to announce a new promotion that will extend employee pricing to everyone, a new report finds. The promotion will begin on August 20th and will cover all eight of GM’s brands.

“We are going to have an employee-discount-for-everyone program,” GM spokesman John McDonald told Automotive News. “We are going to issue a press release tomorrow morning with the details.”

The employee pricing will cover 2008 and some 2009 models and will also include up to $6,000 cash back in addition to the special pricing. GM’s full-size trucks and SUVs are slated to receive the most cash back incentives.

The sale marks the first time GM has offered employee pricing on a wide scale since 2005. The employee pricing event will run through September 2nd.

GM is going to need a lot more than employee pricing to save itself.

This is funny, because they only get 6k off when people normally get 10k off without much effort.

In 2001 we were all New Yorkers.

Last week we were all Georgians.

This week we are all GM employees.

Last time GM had employee pricing they promised they wouldn’t do that ever again. So much for promises.
