GM to exhibit 27 vehicles at SEMA

10/20/2006, 5:17 PM

By admin

Twenty-seven General Motors vehicles will be on display later this month at the SEMA auto show, the automaker announced today. They include: 14 Chevrolets; two Cadillacs; four GMCs; two Hummer H3s; two Pontiac Solstices; two Saturns; and one Buick Lucerne partner vehicle. There will also be a top-secret performance car, developed in conjunction with one of GM’s more notable celebrity partners, in the stand.

GM has released some teaser sketches of three special edition Chevrolet Silverados that will be on display at the show. The Silverado 427 features a 7.0-liter LS7, the same Gen IV small-block V-8 that powers the Corvette Z06. The Dale Earnhardt Jr. Big Red Chevrolet Silverado Concept focuses on off-roading — a successor to Junior’s “Big Red” Silverado. Lastly, the Orange County Choppers Silverado hauler concept takes inspiration from the styling cues of the famous bike-building Teutul family. Gallery after the jump…

Jimbo—have you seen the photos of the stock, NEW Chevy pickups? Do you like them? If not, what DO you like?

I agree with Specialk—the off-roader and the OCC version look like they intentionally made them look old. I do kind of like the blue one though.

i hope gm goes out of business. i like fast cars and power as much as the next guy, but these trucks are ABSURD. this whole machomobile thing is completely out of control. how many different models do meatheads need?

LOL, these trucks would most definitely sell in Alabama; the Dale Jr. looks like the big ugly lifted ones except it doesn’t have the camo crap everywhere, and the other two look like slammed S-10s.

The first Big Red looks like it’ll go head on against the mighty lifted Dodge Ram 2/3500’s/Ford F-2/350’s, the Corvette-powered Silverado 427 should go against the Viper-powered Ram/Ford Lightning and the third, well damn, that’s a possible Ford Harley Davidson killer. It looks like GM has all segments covered pretty well and it’ll be interesting to see who comes out with the better package. :-)

The first two trucks are smokin hot, the third truck I just can’t get into. I think these trucks will do well for GM. If the new Tahoe is any indication of reliability, they will be very dependable. Consumer Reports has already given the new Tahoe an above average reliability rating, pretty impressive for a first year model.

I’m not feeling the first one. The second one is HOT, the third ones execution is off. The concept is right, but they just couldn’t translate it onto paper. I’ll reserve final judgment till I see the actual vehicle.

P.S. I love how people that can’t afford these vehicles attack those that can by insulting their “manliness”. It’s real mature and shows who truly has the inferior attitude. Sad really.

I really like the first two, I’m not still not sold on the new Silverado’s I really like the looks of the current model. The first one looks sick and should definately be put into production as the Z71 model, Im hoping the second will be the Silverado SS, and have enough juice to blow the Dodge out of the water. The third is alright, but I’m not completely sold on it. I live on the coast and I love to watch Nascar, all these trucks should sell everywhere around the country, and if you want to talk “macho” status talk to all the Dodge Ram Drivers. If you dont like trucks go drive your prius and stop complaining.

The first one looks like it came straight out of “Tango and Cash”. It all just looks like tacked on aftermarket crap that the good ol boys give crap to the import crowd for. Talk about hypocritical.

onur –”427 , small block?”

They actually use a small block and bore the shiat out of it. That is what the Z06 uses.

The weight and handling of a small block with the power of the big block.

Wow, 27 vehicles is going to be like half the show! I really like the idea, once people see how cool GM cars really car, maybe they’ll start buying them. I’m really digging the red and blue Silverados shown above.

I can’t wait to see the Lucerne btw, never seen a customised Buick. Saturns should be interesting too, probably an Aura and an Outlook. GMC will probably be like 1 Yukon, 2 Sierras, and 1 Acadia. Hummer H3 will just look like a mini H2 which everyone has seen.

That Lucerne will rock too, with curb-feelers, vinyl passenger rooflining, faux external headers, and hood-mounted trumpet horns – all super gold-chromed; grandpa’s gonna drop a load in his Depends when he sees it… I tell you GM at SEMA is gonna be azz-tastic…

I’m willing to bet most of you were import dorks, but now that they’re not popular, so now you’re into trucks. how many of you have spiky black hair, chin-strap beards, pulled up socks, black tee-shirts, and thick rimmed black sunglasses? maybe a barbed wire tatoo? you are all unorigional bandwagon dip****s. hey you know what hybrids are becoming popular, why don”t you start dressing like hippies? wake up and get a personality of your own.

Can’t afford one? With every trick they’ve tried to sell them? Rebates, ‘employee pricing’, ‘cash back’, 0% financing, ‘Buy American’, discounts for first-time buyer/senior citizen/military/college students, newspaper coupons(!)… About the only thing they haven’t tried yet is “buy one, get one free” and “God kills a kitten when you buy an import”.
Really, they’ve been known to sell to anyone who can sign on a dotted line. They’ll make their profit when the sucker brings the clunker back to fix it, and when it finally breaks down and they have to trade it in for another one and rollover their up-side-down loan.

Give it a few years and tell me what your gas mileage is, my Diesel Silverado 4wd probably gets better mileage. Whats wrong with not buying American cars??
