General Motors has announced that it will offer a system on select Buick and Cadillac models that will detect vehicles that could potentially be in a driver’s blind spot. The system is being developed by Valeo and appears to be similar to what’s currently offered on Volvo ’s S80.
Valeo and GM say that the system will display a warning on the exterior mirrors themselves, unlike Volvo’s system, which displays a warning light in the A-pillar when it detects a car that could potentially be in a blind spot. No word yet on pricing or availability. Volvo’s system costs $595 on the S80.
