GM to outpace China sales growth in 2010

10/14/2009, 10:55 AM

By Drew Johnson

General Motors hasn’t seen positive growth in the United States market for some time now, but the Detroit automaker expects to outpace the overall market growth in China next year. GM has seen strong growth in China this year and expects that trend to continue into 2010.

GM has long established itself as a major player in the China market, and has no plans to take its foot off the accelerator in 2010. Following better than expected sales through the first three quarters of 2009 – which outpaced the overall market – GM expects an equally successful 2010.

“We expect sales to continue to grow next year,” Kevin Wale, president and managing director for GM’s China operations, told Reuters. “We are confident the government will take appropriate action to continue stability in the market.”

“Next year we will again try to grow a little faster than the market’s growth,” he added.

Through September GM’s China sales were up 55.6 percent, outpacing the overall market’s growth of 34.2 percent.

Lol:-)) Shouldn’t be a problem at all, just do the reverse of everything they’ve done for thirty years in NA and they should be guaranteed #1.They already have the road map; hell they wrote it:-)). All one has to do is look at Buick in China versus NA… Sad… Fail lol:-))

On a side note, the General’s been awfully quiet this past week, just Bob challenging everyone to a race… Hmmm, oh thats right Dufus, I mean Fritz, is in the Orient.

And you just have to love how they’re trying so damn hard to flog Buicks over here while they’re at it. I see more Buicks on my TV every night than ads for the latest pill to make you harder, last longer, fart less, poop more or whatever happens to be the bodily function of the month. Who knows… maybe this is the way to go. Those new LaCrosse ads are really shiny and we all know the sheeple are attracted by the light. Still, they’re going to have to sell a heck of a lot more of them over here just to recoup their advertising costs by my reckoning.

They could give me a brand new Buick for free and I’d still turn around and sell it to an old person.

By the way hows your suspension? did you have to spend the $3000 yet to fix?

These Chinese buicks are actually completely Chinese products. Its actually just the buick brand that is GM on these cars. Every part on this car is manufactured by independant Chinese firms that build engines, bodies, paint, chinese steel, even the tires are Chinese. The same Chinese company that makes engines for these Buicks also supplied engines for the pontiac torrent and chevy traverse.

P.S. if you don’t go rice out your A4 with 30k miles like you probably did with your scrotum shaped elantra touring, you could just take it to the dealer and get a brand new engine under warranty. Works for me!

Ford Motor is Taking Over China and will destroy GM sales over their too. As soon as the Chinese realize Gm stands for Garbage Motors the sooner they’ll be buying a Quality and Technologically Sophisticated Ford Car instead and be very Happy with it!

the chinese sales volume didn’t save gm from going under, the US government did, but the chinese market will be a profit leader for gm at a critical time…if gm didn’t have such resounding success in china, i wouldn’t be so positive about gm eventually paying back their loans…but the fact remains gm is the biggest player in the biggest market on the planet now, and their share is only increasing…that, to me, indicates that there is light at the end of the restructuring tunnel…

and no offense to the chinese, but bk your statement about ‘garbage motors’ in light of all the chinese product quality issues lately i find mildly ironic…

Bankruptcy, in China GM stands for “gargantuan member” which explains very clearly the popularity of Buick (GM) products. Ford does not stand a chance.
