TOZO, wagons not exactly follows any motto. Reality is Volvo sells more wagons then sedans. GM & Ford were making at least 10K from each SUV for the past 15 years. Of course everybody jumped on that wagon. And those SUV’s as modern as 50 y.o. Crown Victoria. OK, they had newer engines and only 30 y.o. transmission. Large families in US traveling long distances were using wagons in 70’s, minivans in 80-early 90’s and for past 15 years macho SUV’s. We are back to wagons.
Having said that, I don’t believe that anyone in Europe is dreaming of owning Cadillac wagon nor I believe it is craved here. Maybe first year it will sell in US, then it will meet Cimarron.

I bought a Cadillac the other day,, well about a month ago. It’s a cherry 1988 Fleetwood Brougham, perfect for the demolition derby I’m entering it in this August. In another 20 years, I’ll pick up one of these babies and do the same.

I heard once that the Eldorado was very popular with members of the Hell’s Angels. If you now add in all the other fat old biker gang wanabees riding Harleys these days, Cadillac should be in good shape with the CTS Coupe.

One of the ass.holes at our local Caddy dealership is already saying that there’s a waiting list for the coupe and expect to pay at least 5k over the sticker.
As much as I really want the coupe, they better not hold their breath. I’d shake his hand, thank him for his time and shake my head laughing as I walk into the BMW dealership across the street & drive home in my shiny new 6speed 335i.

Sorry, TOZO, you lose. The Volvo wagon is by far the best-selling body style in both North American and Europe. Wagons don’t sell much in America overall because, overall, there aren’t that many to sell. If there were more, they would sell more, especially now that driving a big SUV down the blacktop to Safeway is officially a sign of mental illness.

Subie and Volvo have the mid-range market, the Germans the premium end, and the last American option (Taurus I think) was iced years ago in order to steer motorists into higher-profit SUVs. It’s not that Americans “don’t like station wagons,” it’s that they’re not here to like.

I really like the CTS wagon. People choosing between this and a $45k Highlander or Enclave might well come back to the CTS. Some of us still like to drive CARS.

No, it isn’t.

A ‘bodystyle like a Volvo V70′ also includes the XC70. And taken together, their sales are TRIPLE that of the C30’s.

I like wagons. They’re better-looking than most SUVs to me. The A4 and A6 Avants are more attractive to me than the Q5/7. Same with the 3 and 5 Series estates vs. X3/5, and the C-Class/E-Class vs. ML/GL.

The fact that YOU don’t like wagons isn’t a good reason to not offer them. They drive better, ride better, handle better, and get better fuel economy than equivalent SUVs and crossovers. Expect to see more of them, man.

If the Euroes want Eurotrash “Estates” rather than “Saloons” or “Coupe’s” they can have them, but this side of the pond should not have to look at eyesore wagons on the road. CTS Wagon, CTW, CTE, CTX, or whatever it is called. But I doubt this Estate will be popular. A car shaped like a Volvo C30 is more popular than something shaped like a Volvo V70 over there.

Well, Europeans aren’t going to want Cadillac until Cadillac produces what they want. And if they want an estate car, they’ve got one coming.

I’m pleased to see GM branching the CTS out into different bodystyles. And the wagon’s a great one. If BMW, Volvo, Saab, Audi, and Benz can offer and sell wagons here, why not Cadillac, too?

The plant choice makes sense, since the CTS is already built at LGR. I’ll bet the STS/DTS replacement will be built there, but they’ll probably relocate the next SRX to whatever plant(s) build the TE platform.
