General Motors officially announced the wind down of its Hummer brand following the failed sale to China’s Tengzhong last month, but the iconic off-road brand will apparently get one last go as the Shreveport factory’s H3 line will reopen for one last production run.
GM’s Shreveport, Louisiana plant hasn’t produced a Hummer H3 model since January, but the factory’s Hummer line will reportedly reopen for one last production run. The reopening of the H3 line will not affect production of the GMC Canyon / Chevrolet Colorado , which are also produced at the Shreveport plant.

GM made the decision to reopen its Hummer line after receiving a fleet order for 849 units. GM has yet to reveal the identity of the fleet company, but it is most likely a major rental firm.

Despite the last minute order, GM says it is continuing Hummer’s wind down process. Reports had suggested GM was considering two eleventh-hour bids for the brand, but there is little to indicated the Hummer brand will be saved at this point.
