It's actually the first day that the Mexicans beat the French in México. It's not Mexican Independence day, and Cinco de Mayo isn't very celebrated in México, but it is widely celebrated in the U.S. (go figure). In fact, the three biggest celebrations in México are: 1) January 6th - the day the Wise Men supposedly visited Jesus 2) September 16th - Mexican Independence Day 3) September 23rd - the day all the new Chevy models come out...
