GM – Boring cars, Boring trucks. I cannot believe that someone thought this was a good idea. I consider myself anti-GM, but Buicks do have some great heritage to pull from. GNX’s those were sweet. Wicked turbo 6′s of the ’80′s. Also the big tooth grilles of the classic ’50′s cars. But these lame “company car” lucerne sedans are as exciting as a lobotomy. Why not have a modern interpretation of the Grand National coupe from the 80′s? That’d be cool. Why not have a wildly styled retro rod with the look of a 50′s buick chopped and channeled into a sleek yet modern lead sled. That’d be way cool. Cause the only thing cool here is the cold damp grave Buick is digging itself.

Wow…every one of those Buicks is the same except for interior/exterior colors. What’s so custom about that? Hardly SEMA worthy.

The only one of these that I even sort of like is the two-tone silver one, but even that one, the wheels are too big. I like the design of them; they’re just too big. All the others in this group look decidedly low-rent and amateurish to me.

I really like the stock Lucerne; I’ve see several on the road that I would describe as “sharp”, which is not a word I’ve applied to many new cars for several years now. I think Buick did a great job updating an aging chassis. So I can’t believe that they are allowing their baby to be shown in such awful light.

WOW! Some of these Lucernes look really nice! I like how some are lowered just right and those large wheels and low profile tires fill out the wheel wells perfectly. I find it funny how some are crackin on them, I mean most are tastefully done. The one car I don’t really care for is the Solstice. Looks too rice with all those stickers on it, also lose the hard top. That car only looks good as a convertable.

I can probably find one thousand posts in the last 10 months where some of you same posters criticized GM for not taking any chances.
Many of you will rip on GM regardless of what they do, or don’t do for that matter.
No doubt many of these cars would appeal to a wide range of potential customers. But, SEMA is all about the aftermarket and less so the manufacturer. From that perspective, these cars have hit the bullseye. Even if you dont fancy one in your driveway.

I think GM is smart for doing this. They need to be doing everything to get people to notice all of their brands, not just their latest hit. I bet this was reminder to most of you about the Lucerne, which is a decent car, even though I don’t think any of us are looking for that kind of car.

These cars are all from hop up shops. GM supplied the vehicles to top customizers and they did what they wanted to them. Most of the folks on this site have no idea what is going on in the real world of young folks. (Hey, I am with you guys)

It’s a shame that the photos arent labled or arranged in any order where we can easily match up the exteriors with their respective interiors…

…but the only interior that is appealing is the all-black w/ aluminum trim and the standard interior (beige w/ wood) – the rest are way too ghetto…

…and the only appealing exteriors are the all-black and the Black Cherry – the two-tones make no sense as there aren’t any bodylines to accent for the color split – it all seems too arbitrary – and the other solids are just too NASCAR.

I don’t think this exercise will do Buick any good in appealing to it’s target market – better off having Martha give another one away…

i really fail to see what makes these cars SEMA worthy. where the uniqueness? what makes them special? i could see a handful of similar cars drivin down the highway that look better then these junk heaps (exluding the solstice).

While im on the subject let me say this “chrome fad” hopefully will fade quickly. Chrome wheels are so tacky and tastless. I mean it could be ANY wheel design in the world, but just as long as it’s chrome, everyone’s going to gawk and point while it drives by. Chrome this and chrome that. Next thing you know, Wires will be back on the scene.
