Not everything they do has to be about getting people directly into dealers. SEMA is all about potential, and showing your cars to a narrow range of people to attract their interest.
As has been said before, GM is not in as dire financial shape as the media would have you believe, and they’re doing the right things for a turn around. They wouldn’t be the great GM from the past if they didn’t put their money into cars like this that make enthusiasts remember why GM was a big deal in the first place.

Uhhhhh, what is the point of this? Why is GM wasting time on this thing? Don’t get me wrong it’s nice looking but how will this help get people down to their local dealers?

Unfortunately I think it’s probably just a one of a kind show car. It seems to be sort of like GM’s version of the Silver Slugger: (http://www.popularhotrodding.com/features/0504phr_1967_ford_mustang_gt_r_code/).

But that thing could perform like nobody’s business, I wonder what the figures for this car are.

I see now what you guys are talking about on those switches… They are a bit tacky. But I do like the turned aluminum knobs on the lights, wipers and period look radio. The window switches should be aluminum also. Looks like a fun car, but then a Six Speed manual with a big block would be fun in any car.

Wow…that’s sweet. Will these LSX blocks/heads be going to the new Corvettes?

My only objection is the same as bepsf, what’s w/ the cheesy power window switches?!?! With all the money spent on this car, no one thought to spring for some nice metal toggle switches that would better match the interior and not look like Pep-Boys parts?

Sweet! It must be nice to have access to the engineering resources, parts bin, and bank account, at GM to be able to do something like this. It kind of makes you wonder what they’ve got in mind for the new Camaro when it comes out, doesn’t it?

he is a serious muscle car nut and gear head thats why.. He has his own collection of muscle cars as well or at least he used to anyway.. Are they going to start selling these then or what ? I WANT ONE its Sweet.. I however already have a 1967 SS camaro with a 502 roller in it.. about 625hp as well.. This seems to be more high tek though ? all I’m running for carburation is one barry grant 1180 carb.. I wonder whats under the aircleaner on this thing ? LSX block and heads ? haven’t heard of those ? warren Johnson DEFINETLY KNOWS how to make motor power so it must be real good…

Reggie is a huge car collector. He has many old COPO Camaros, Chevelles, etc. Maybe he initiated the project? This thing is sweet. Old school sleeper style with new school performance.
