Complementing the standard 2013 GMC Acadia that was unveiled today at the Chicago Auto Show, the General Motors division has taken the wraps off of its most premium crossover, the Acadia Denali.
The latest Acadia Denali follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, which was introduced for the 2011 model year. Its basic design is closely related to the outgoing model, which means that it still rides on a unibody platform related to the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave (updated versions of both of those are due at the New York International Auto Show in April).
A 3.6-liter V6 remains the exclusive engine, although both front and all-wheel-drive variants are available. A new version of the outgoing model’s six-speed automatic transmission is the only major powertrain change for 2013.
The biggest changes come inside and out, where the Acadia takes on a more masculine appearance with squared-off fenders and a more prominent grille. Acadia Denalis stand out from standard models with additional polished and chrome details like dual exhaust pipes and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, Acadia Denali gains standard perforated leather seats with a new Cocoa Dune (think brown) leather trim. Aluminum accents give the interior an additional appearance lift.
Befitting its status at the top of the Acadia range, the Denali comes standard with items like heated and ventilated front seats, side blind zone assistance, a dual moonroof setup and a revised navigation system with a more intuitive interface.
Look for the Acadia Denali to hit the market late this year as a 2013 model.
