As with other models in GM's line-up, the Denali name denotes a more exclusive, powerful and luxurious version of an existing, more pedestrian product. The Yukon Denali Hybrid is no different, and it is unique aesthetically and mechanically from its standard Yukon counterparts.

When approaching a Yukon Denali in hybrid trim one will note standard color-keyed assist steps with chrome inserts, a more aerodynamic front color-keyed fascia, a matching rear color-keyed fascia, and unique 22-inch 8-spoke chrome wheels wrapped in a low rolling resistance tire. The Yukon Denali Hybrid also features the more generous use of lightweight materials such as aluminum in body panels to reduce weight and increase fuel economy.

The major change is under the hood, as buyers get an impressive 6.0 liter V8 good for 332 horsepower and 367 lb-ft of torque. The large 6.0 liter V8 is paired with a two mode hybrid electric propulsion system that helps the big truck return 21 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway cycle in 2WD form, as estimated by the EPA. Switching to the more capable 4WD system only lowers fuel economy to 20 city and highway.

Even while in hybrid trim the Yukon Denali boasts a GVWR of 7,300 lbs in 2WD and 7,500 in 4WD. Payload for both models is between 1,300 and 1,400 pounds.

As you'd expect, standard equipment is generous. You get cruise control, a remote starter, 10-speaker Bose audio system with subwoofer with 3 months of XM Satellite radio programming, leather seats, power rear liftgate, 22-inch chrome wheels, power adjustable pedals, universal home remote, 2nd row power seat release, head curtain side airbags, 1-year of OnStar, load-leveling rear suspension, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with 8-point compass and outside temperature display and a heated windshield washer fluid system. The second-row bench seat is replaced with a pair of buckets, and the standard-fare third-row bench is now a three-passenger affair, as opposed to the regular Yukon's.

The Denali is covered by GM's 5-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
