There is a petition on the 10 Downing street website to make Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear Prime Minister, I think we should all go there and sign it. Although he has said so far that he doesn't wish to do it, I'd at least like to see him replace Red Ken Livingstone and the other communists that run London alongside those Labour Communist. I want to be able to drive what I want, when I want to, and enjoy it, not give into this crap.

I always say to people that we are supposed to live in a free and demacratic society in the uk, but our government and all the other middle class whacko crackpots that live here in the uk, seem to have spun that into a free demacratic but communist society.......help get me out of this shit hole they call GREAT Britain. I plead political asylum!!!!!

SwerveEarly, well said... Whatever happened to natural selection?

Now we're nannying everything... Kids can't climb on trees anymore for fear of parents suing the councils for having such dangerous things on their land!

I think that anyone who runs a fleet of branded vehicles would welcome the possibility to regulate what their drivers get up to. Delivery trucks (or buses and repair vehicles in the case mentioned above) are like mobile billboards carrying your company's branding and when they drive anti-socially your drivers might as well be giving the bird to your potential customers. We already use a quite sophisticated monitoring system to check on our drivers' behaviour, and this would be a welcome addition. It is of no concern to me whether the driver's are having fun behind the wheel, that is something they can do in their own time.

That said, if anyone tried to offer something similar in my privately-owned car, I'd be heading to another dealership straight away.

London calling to the GPS zone
Forget it, brother, you can go it alone
London calling upon the zombies of ISA
Quit holding out - and drive another day
London calling - and I don't wanna shout
But when we were talking - I saw the Transport of London getting bout
London calling, see we ain't got no rights
Except for those within the digital sites

Here's what we're all gonna have to do to circumvent this BS:

..... 1) Leave cellphones at home so they can't track them. (a good thing)
..... 2) Never order GPS. (a good thing)
..... 3) Don't carry your license when you drive fast. (not good, but necessary)
..... 4) Remove the GPS tracking chip(s) from your vehicle. (a good thing)
..... 5) Steal other plates and drive with them on your car. (not good, but necessary)

Basically you have to deceive the fukkheads in the police state in order to do the right thing in life. Our kids will need to see doctors in Mexico who will remove the tracking/control chips from their brains for a price.

Damn... that sucks. It's weird too that just recently there was the link about how Nissan is limiting the top speed of the GT-R to 111mph through its GPS navigation system unless it's on a track. What a waste of it's potential. And the RFID integrated chips in U.S. driver's license thanks to the U.S Department of Homeland Security. Yeah Government regulation is going too far on this stuff. One of the things that I really wonder is that will we even be manually driving our own vehicles in the next 5 decades? Or will the depiction of the future in movies such as I Robot and Minority Report of vehicles being driven by a computer system become reality. Ladies and Gents start saving your current cars and motorcycles...

Actually, I think this is a great idea, as long as it isn't required by law. This will litterally force all non-enthusiasts to drive like slugs, while the rest of those who actually enjoy driving will definately find a way to disable it. I actually really like this idea, so long as it isn't forced

haha what does the queen even do for the UK?? Answer: Elton John is very popular outside the Kingdom as well!
On a serious note there is nothing new here. The agency will be monitoring speed of its own vehicles which are driven by drivers who are required not to speed in the city. Driving in Europe you notice that trucks and buses do not exceed 90 km/h (56 mph) 'cause they all have recorders monitoring their speed. Any cop in any country can request to see it and write the citation for exceeding limit.

At last, the Government of His Gordonness has imposed a way of controlling the speeds we do in our cars. As a Briton, I am utterly disgusted by this total and utter waste of time. Since Labour came to power all they did was cock up Iraq, cock up Afghanistan, cock up education and now they're in the middle of cocking up transport. Sooner or later, this system will be fitted to everyone's car, across the country. And that's just not cricket.
If I get my hands on Stephen Ladyman (UK Minister for Transport) I would run him over at 35mph in a 30 zone. And screw speeding and speed cameras. Our dear old England is being controlled, manipulated by a bunch of idiots. Vote Conservative, and God save the Queen!

Sucks for them so. So much for freedom. There are already cameras all over the place in that city watching drivers etc. Big Bro is watching & it's a good thing we won our independence.

1c3d0g- I'm also happy I don't live in the U.K. he, recently I was reading a story about a 15 by 10 apartment going for $750,000 (in our money) in "downtown" London. Really, I don't want to be ticketed if I'm going 5 miles per hour over the speed limit, or answering my phone to tell someone I'll call them back later. As long as I'm not endangering the lives of others, that is. I don't like the saying "do no evil, see no evil", partly because it's not always in the best interest of the people.

Another view that I see is they'll tax you on whatever they can. For example, I just got fined $25 for not "registering" my dog and acquiring a liscence. And toll roads being leased out to other companies, I can't even get on the highway anymore without paying a toll. And taxes, everything just keeps going up and up. Not to mention they're now considering to tax yard sales. So in the end, your paying tax (when you originally buy it) on tax (when you sell it) on tax (when the next person buys it). There's a point when it gets ridiculous.

gitcypher- I couldn't help but think that too. I would imagine in London though, you aren't going to get far while speeding in the first place. You'll be fined anyways.

Christ! What the f*ck else does the government want to control? Our bleeding lives too?!? I'm so glad I don't live in the U.K. Some things are definitely f*cked up here in the Caribbean, but thankfully not as bad as some other countries... :-|
