Grand Theft Kanye?

05/09/2006, 8:39 AM

By admin

A lawsuit has been filed against hip-hop start Kanye West for failing to return a leased Mercedes G500, according to UPI. The lease expired in January and since then, the car was not returned and no further payments were made. The suit seeks $53,747.15 for the car plus missed lease payments and late charges. While the report was not clear, it seems West may have failed to pay the lease regularly as well. The Leftlane Perspective: Perhaps Mr. West as so enthusiastic about the Lincoln MKZ that he forgot all about his G-Class.

He is a milionare like all thoose other rappers, why didnt he just buy a new G-Class of his own, if he wanted to keep it anyway? Surely $52K isnt too much for him?

Most rappers are just proped up by the record companies to look like they have alot of money since all that “bling” seems to attract stupid teenagers to buying the crappy music. You think those guys on MTV Cribs actually own all those cars? Once they are no longer the cool thing the record companies shut off the cash flow and take back all the stuff they couldnt actually afford but were supplied with to foster an image. Kanye, and some of the other big names, are an exception to this since they have been around for more than one single and a run on TRL, and they are smart enough to produce their own music.

I’m a musician and I can appreciate what Kanye does. You guys don’t even know what you’re talking about. However, I agree that as a millionaire, he really doesn’t have much of an excuse in this situtation. Similarly, I can understand how he could just forget about it too. Dude smokes a LOT of herb.

Maybe he already has a stable of newer cars and he lets his bodyguards use it. And his staff thought that he already bought the vehicle. LOL…
