H2 Hummer to receive interior overhaul

02/02/2007, 3:07 PM

By admin

General Motors is readying an updated version of the Hummer H2, which is expected to debut at the Chicago auto show this month. A single photograph leaked online today of what appears to be the revised H2’s all-new interior.

While its authenticity cannot be confirmed, the image appears to be the real deal. GM’s development team has put an increased emphasis on interior quality and styling with its latest round of redesigns, including the 2008 Cadillac CTS and Chevrolet Malibu.

It’s not known if the H2 will also receive exterior design changes or powertrain upgrades.

i hate hummers, only one I respected was the H1, they canceled that, and we are left with a horrible rendition of the hummer name, where 90% of all hummers are on rims that would bend at the sight of a curb, let alone true off-roading.

This is a lot better than the old interior. It just a shame that it took them this long to fix it. The new square vents looks better than the circular ones, and I’m glad the steering wheel has been replaced.

The Hummer H2 may not make sense from a practical standpoint, but then there are many cars that don’t – Bugatti Veyron, Enzo Ferrari, and almost any other supercar out there – and I dont see people bashing them.

MM- people don’t bash the cars you mentioned because they are built in limited handfuls. Wasteful H2’s are on every corner.

While the interior is improved, it won’t help change the image of the H2 as anti-planet. Until they make a clean diesel H2 that returns 25-30mpg, it’s hard to justify the 14mpg pig this gets on a good day.

The H2 has been given the 900 treatment. Same interior look as the Tahoe/Suburban with a few Hummer-like touches to distinguish it (at least a little) from the 900s. I like the look of this interior better than the previous one, especially since GM ditched those hideous bubble-like air vents on the I/P. I still don’t see the point of the analog clock. It’s located right above the audio/Nav system that already has a clock.

And then we have the simpletons who don’t understand the difference between an H2 and a Tahoe, I’ll put it simply for you:Fully boxed mid section frame, modified 2500HD front suspension, modified 1500HD rear suspension. Now someone explain to me where you get that stuff on a run-of-the-mill GMT800 Tahoe? You all forget the fact that Toyota will happily sell you the older-than-dirt GX470 for about $13,000 more, while it provides no real advantage other than a thrid row of seats. And lets all blatantly ignore the fact that the Toyota Sequoia is nearly identical in every dimension. To finish off, can the geniuses claiming the H2 is useless please point me in the direction of a full-sized SUV that does better off road? Thankyou

I have driven this vehicle. It handles pretty well. It does not feel as if it is going to ‘roll on every turn’ as bun_a_gm suggests. If you drive it like it’s a mini then you might have issues.
For those who think it’s ‘worthless’, that is subjective and generalisations you all make such as…’90% of the hummers I see have non offroad rims’
Ok, I work fairly close to the area Hummer dealer, in a town that has its share of hummers, and I can honestly say that I see 1 in ten that might not be suitable for off roading.
Grow up, stop being jealous that someone can afford a more expensive car than you.
Oh, ya, oilinvestor, get a new line. The current one is as scintilating as Algore, and just as chock full of drool.

Lambo says it has no soul. Bun_a_GM says it doesn’t have more off-road capabilities than a Tahoe.

Have you guys even taken this thing off road before?

It’s a blast!

60% incline. 40% grade. 20 inches of water. You can go over a curb that’s like 15 inches high. I went over fallen trees. There was a spot on the training course where three of the wheels were on rollers, so you could press a button so that each wheel spun independently on the axle so that the fourth wheel could power the vehicle out of the spot. I went down this mudslide where it felt like a roller coaster because it was so steep…using nothing but the engine brake.

And the whole thing was stock, other than the tires!

This thing was amazing in terms of capabilities! Granted, I’ve never taken any other vehicle off road. But tell me about vehicles with similar specs; heck, tell me you’ve even driven an H2 off-road before you all start blindly bashing it.

If your looking for an off road machine go with a Frontier, Ranger or best of all a Wrangler. When it comes to off roading, what wins the battle is traction and wheelbase, two things the (a)Hummer doesn’t have.

Flipper, the only difference w/ the X5 is that it’s not meant for offroad, sure it has 4 Wheel drive but its mainly for rain and just simple traction, not offroading, the X5 should never even be considered for a second to be an offroad vehicle, its an onroad SUV for SUV drivers that actually like to drive. See the H2 an Range Rover are MADE for offroad, so not using them accordingly is kind of dumb
