Hamann pimps the BMW M5

04/20/2006, 7:25 PM

By admin

German tuner Hamann has announced a new Wide Body package for the BMW M5 sedan. The car gets a revamped interior, custom wheels (19-21in), a wide body aerodynamics kit, lowered suspension, and carbon fiber treatments throughout. It also has increased output of 567 horsepower and a top speed of 200 mph. A special brake kit keeps all that power under control, with slotted and internally-ventillated 380 mm discs with eight-piston calipers. Lastly, it has a new four-pipe Hamann silencer with a sound “enough to give you goosebumps.”

Agreed. What’s with that Honda Civic “make you look fast” fender styling? That screams Batmobile. Maybe that was what they were going for? The wider stance definitely gives the M5 a more aggressive look.

Carbon fiber rear view mirrors, eh? For all the body mods they do, they don’t really seem to be raising the power all that much, though I haven’t seen the horsepower/torque curve…

Looks like an RX-8 with a BMW face.
Spoilers definitely do not look good on an M5.

If you dont have the cash to afford this, dont even bother commenting on how it looks! Besides, you can customize your own vehicle, you dont have to buy it looking exactly like this. Choices of interior colors, trims, wheel size, and your choice of stock or wide kit with or without spoiler. Hundreds of possibilities, no two owners will have the same car. And no one mentioned the increase in performance by 67hp over the already astonishing 500hp stock, Brembo brakes the size of pizzas and 200mph top speed!!! Call Hamann for more details and stop this nerdy hating on this beautiful machine.

So since you like it, we’re not allowed to critique it? I’m not “hating”, I’m just giving my opinion.

Make no mistake, I think very highly of many of these German tuners – Rinspeed, Oettinge, Hamann, RUF… I just think the exterior bits on this car are overdone.

Considering the high price, Hamann should have gone to fabricate an all new wider fender design. The mods look tacky and is more suitable for the Japanese compact car rather than an expensive German sedan.

Peter G hit the nail on the head – it looks like the Batmobile… What a riced, ****ty version of an otherwise beautiful car. Hamann sucks balls.

Uh, if you removed the governor on the stock M5, wouldn’t you be able to push it to 200 mph? At least 190?
