Don’t know under what stone you are living, but my 575F1 and 456GTA have 4 pipes but also the new models have 4, The Brits have double pipes since ages (1 right 1 left) and the Italians 4, some had 2 like the DeTomaso Longchamp for example (I still have my dads first he bought). Germans allways had 2 with a bend for not having these pipes in sight. Only since a couple of years they started to show 2 and 4 pipes, mainly driven by demand created by tuners. If you could read german you would be able to notice that some of the designers and creators do not really like those things on German cars as it destroys the aesthetics of an everymans saloon (which in fact an M5 or M6 still is, just pimped).

So from a designer/architectural point of view saloon cars should stick to the old school pipes, and the 4 pipes to the Italian thorougbred car, and the 2 pipes to the Brit gentleman muscle car (Bristol, Bentley, Aston Martin).

But this is my opinion as an admirer of simple yet good things.

Wow who doesn’t know how to spell? I am not going to degrade myself that badly just to correct a three year old child.

Anyways I think the four tailpipes look appropiate on this car. Four tailpipes are found on italian cars, but they are found on many many many other cars? My point clear? It’s not exclusive to the italians.
They aren’t extremely flashy, which Volvo as a conservative car manufacturer would look strange with anything really flashy. But the tailpipes make it look good but not stand out like a sore thumb.
The car is done well, it has a fluid clean look. The engine get’s impressive numbers for a 2.5 liter inline 5 cylinder, 247 hp.
The interior has always been comfortable and nice for the C70, and unluckily I can’t see any pictures of interior here but I’m sure it’s still roomy.

jj your an idiot you say that 4 exause belong only on italian cars is a crock of shit what about the m5 or the m6 they get to 60 just as fast as an f430 and anyways i cant think of an italian car that has four pipes other then maseratis which suck and im sure those were not the itailain cars you were talking about lamborgini doesnt make a car with four pipes and niether does ferrari at least currently so you should go stick your head back up your ass where it belongs

It will be about $38K. Less than a C70.

BMW will have nothing to worry about, as it a performance car. Volvos are not. The EOS and the C70 are more just cruisers.

Do you really think the German built EOS will not stack up to the Swedish C70? It will and it will do it for less $$$.

We just have to see.

I do think the Volvo is a better looking car than the EOS, but in other catagories the VR6 VW will be better.

Looks great, however, since the 2.5 I5 from the R cars will definetely fit unders the hood of the C70, why not use it. This make sure that the C70 loses nothing (at least in terms of horse power) to the upcoming BMW 3-series convertable. Also, to all of you fixating on the the VW Eos, its aimed at a lesser market than the Volvo and the BMW. The Eos will capture some Pontiac G6 customers – but I doubt that Volvo and BMW have much to worry about. I also think that we will see very few VR6 Eos’ on the road. Just like the A3 3.2 (which can be considered a low-volume niche car), the VR6 Eos will also be very costly.

Still when the comparo tests come out in R&T and C and D, I’ll bet the Eos comes out above the C70.

Both cars are “chick cars”. Real men drive RWD in this price segment.

yes JJ (don’t take my nickname!!LOL) this Volvo is done very well. The lines are clean and the car is kept simple. This is a very nice car.
Most of Volvos lineup is still a little too conservative for me.

again a cars desing destroyed by a tuner…these 4 exhausts belong to an Italian sportscar period. All other cars should simply stick to 1 double exhaust either on the right or left….it looks childish on a volvo, merc or bmw

Now it becomes an even more overpriced FWD car. The VW Eos witt the VR6 will be a better car right out of the showroom.

Wait until the retractable hardtop BMW 3 series in released. With Twin-Turbos to boot.
