wow.i read this and thought omg 9.5L.typical american car but its not actualy that bad. if we scale it down its 85hp/L and thats like a 3.5L making 297hp which is pretty respectable(g35 makes 300hp with a 3.5L)

A.G. – how can you say Typical American Car? There is nothing typical about it. Set it next to a Zonda, or Veyron, and it looks like an economy car…

I have heard some negative kind of rumors about Hennesey, but don’t know reality of the situations… Anyone have details?

HPE may seem like a ripoff, but their Venoms are always rated higher than a Lingenfelter Z06 because the Venoms are easier to drive on the streets.

Plus, it’s nice to have a modern American muscle car with enough muscle to hang with a million dollar Bugatti.

NO, I mean that Henny is a shady character that has been known to steal parts from his customers cars to fund other projects..It even has been shown that some viper owner get their cars back with parts from other vipers that he has been working on (vins switches and a lot of other things that just aren’t right). He has a few lawsuits.

Yes, according to forum gossip, in 2003-2004 several customers had delivered their cars to Hennessey only to have him strip parts and sell them. Their cars were either delayed or weren’t completed and there were rumblings of legal action. Don’t know the details but it sounded like Hennessey agreed to pay owners back.
Currently, Hennessey and his team work hard to erase those past mistakes with improved car and customer service. His cars are winning magazine shootouts again and he’s earning back the goodwill he lost. He contributes regularly to forums and is accessible again.
Caveat emptor.

Awesome car, I mean, 230mph? The thing will smoke the Enzo and Carrera GT off the line. However, this Viper looks undrivable in real world situation. (ie pot holes, bumps on roads, etc.). Cool show car nonetheless

cool car… but if what everybody is saying is true I WOULD NOT give him my viper to upgrade (if I had one which i don’t) if he has pending lawsuits on stealing customers car parts… Jeeezzzz what was he before he became a Viper tuner ? a crooked lawyer or something ? thats kind of an oxy moron crooked lawyer… kinda like hot water heater…

Thanks jason… thats a REAL scary article on Henessey. it sounds like he’s sitting on the edge of bankruptcy and using customers car parts to keep himself afloat.. WOW, its too bad to as he obviously is a VERY talented viper tuner.. he needs to hire himeself a Damn good business/money manager as he obviously ISN’T any good at it.. but stealing form your customrers is

GL1, that article was written four years ago. Obviously he has cleaned up his business if he’s still turning out top-dog Vipers.

Having said all that, I must admit that this Viper IS pretty bad-ass looking. But there MUST be a better design for the rear wing; the one on this car looks WAY too much like the cheesey ones I’ve seen tacked on the trunk lids of various, tuner-wannabe ricers.

I saw an old, very stock, very tired, Dodge Stratus the other day with a humongous aluminum wing bolted to the trunk lid. But I’m sure it was fast.

A.G.—I don’t know how old you are, but in the ’60’s, if your engine was making 1HP per cubic inch, that was really something. Engines have sure come a long way since then. Nowadays, 100HP per litre is pretty respectable. Did you know that GM’s supercharged 2.0 litre Ecotec four cylinder makes 130HP per litre? That’s the engine they’re using in the Saturn Sky Redline, and the Pontiac Solstice GXP. It’s the highest specific output engine GM has ever built, and one of the highest (I think) production engines in the world.

Cool, but the spineless things I’ve heard about Hennessey do to some owners left a very sour taste in my mouth. I’d much rather let Heffner Performance take care of my cars than this dude, who can also turn out the same, or even better numbers.

heffners performance builds better higher hp vipers than hennessey, I’ve read reports of 2000hp vipers coming out of their shop, not to mention Ford GT-tt and gallardo-tt

Scott, I can’t afford this car, I was making a joke, but I agree with you, 400-500hp is a wet dream for me.

scott, with forced induction it is easy to have more than 100hp per liter in a car. do that in na form and thats impresive.

dear novicius… So that means hennesy used to be a thief four years ago but now he isn’t anymore so its cool to trust him with $200,000 bucks worth of Viper and upgrade money… isn’t that kinda like giving Charles Manson a knife and turning your back on him because Hey, hes been in prison a 100 years now and hasn’t killed anybody for a long time, so he must have cleaned up his act by now and he’s obviously safe…

Whether or not I would buy from him is immaterial.
People have been and are still buying from him. He is still in business. There are plenty of people willing to support him and if you check Viper Alley there are plenty of people willing to vouch for him. Just saying. *shrug*
