Although Z06 and ZR1 variants of the new C7 Corvette aren't expected to launch for at least another year, 'Vette fans with an insatiable appetite for horsepower won't have to wait quite that long for a fire-breathing Stingray.

Texas-based tuning firm Hennessey Performance Engineering has announced that it plans to offer several upgrades to boost the performance of the 2014 Corvette to truly prodigious levels starting later this year.

A Hennessey supercharger kit for the Stingray's 6.2-liter LT1 V8 - which produces 450 horsepower in standard form - will bring output up to as much as 700 horsepower. Even more power will be available with a twin-turbocharger kit, which will bump the pushrod eight to 800 to 1,000 (!) ponies.

For those seeking more modest mods, Hennessey will also sell a range of bolt-on performance components, including cold air induction systems, cat-back exhausts, Brembo brake kits, long-tube headers and suspension.

Expect more details and full pricing information for Hennessey's Stingray upgrades to be released in the coming months.
