A group of former MG Rover bosses operating under the ‘GB Sports’ name have signed a provisional agreement with the collapsed carmaker’s new Chinese owner, Nanjing Automobile, which they claim brings a step closer reviving the Austin-Healey brand, reports The Guardian as cited by Jalopnik. GB Sports was set up in August by Fraser Welford-Winton, a former managing director at Rover’s Powertrain engine plant. Welford-Winton aims to keep production of the Austin-Healey brand in Britain. Under the terms of the proposed joint venture deal, rights to the Austin-Healey marque would be acquired by GB Sports for an unspecified sum.
