High hopes for Hammond’s full recovery

Doctors are hopeful Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond will make a full recovery from the injuries he sustained during a 300 mph jet car crash. Just nine days after the crash, Hammond was already walking around and out of emergency care. Neurosurgeon Stuart Ross said the next few months will be slow and difficult to get through, but with a little luck, Hammond would “be back to his old self.”

Doctors say a number of factors contributed to Hammond’s relative luck in the accident. “Mr Hammond was lucky because he was in a seven-point restraint system rather than a three-point system that most of us drivers are used to, and his helmet was strapped to restrain the head and stop the rotation.” He was also fortunate his vehicle rolled rather than hit an immovable object.

As a tragic reminded of how dangerous such accidents can be, 17-year-old Kendall Hebert was killed near Toronto yesterday when her rocket-powered dragster crashed into a concrete barrier and rolled several times.

The faster Richard recovers the faster Top Gear will return back to the air. Go Richard!

Obviously the 17 year old was too reckless to wear a 7 point restraint, and a head restraint, since she was ejected.
Ejection = Death.

Raekwon, you obviously didnt read the rest of the comments on this subject, otherwise you would have noticed that people do care. clearly a dumb mistake, im sure thats it. i for one care a lot, as i love the Hampster, andhope for a speedy recovery as do most others on this site. as for this poor girl in Toronto, that was a REALLY dumb mistake, one that she wont get a chance to make again.

Damn it… Why wasn’t Kendall Herbert’s story more publicised… Enough of Hamster – he’s a legend and will recover… Her death was probably more news-worthy yet widely neglected.

Because this isn’t a drag racing site, AFAICT.
