Holden is considering producing its Efijy concept in limited numbers. First revealed in 2005 as a modern interpretation of the hot rod, the Efijy recently won the North American Concept Car of the Year award, helping to generate even more interest in the car. Holden has received a number of requests for the Efijy and could build the concept to order.
According to Cars Guide, the Efijy would cost around $1 million, essentially what it cost to hand-build the original concept. The Tom Walkinshaw organization — who helps run Holden’s racing division — could be a possible partner to help build a road-going version of the concept. No performance specifications have been released but the Efijy is built on the Corvette C5 platform and is powered by a supercharged 6.0L V8.

That’s sweet but I wouldnt see too many people willing to part with $1,000,000.00 to own one. I sure wouldnt but then again I am poor so there ya go.

this would be an ultra low production car, why would it be priced cheap? this has been around for a few years i guess the “novelty” of it will be around a bit longer.

If they build it and sell in US (probably not to both ifs) the customization for P. Diddy or JayZ (or any other alive gangsta de jour) will change appearance drastically.

This is really cool; I’ve always thought of a division that builds hot rods specifically, using some modern components and such. A low production, modern hot rod manufacturer. I will be content with Holden though.
One of my all time favorite cars was the Plymouth Prowler; mostly because of the design, that was a truely unique car! When they upgraded the engine, it was a very nice car, albeit impractible (what do you expect and ask for?) The Chevrolet SSR was very unique looking, but met a very small niche, to small for a profit by Chevrolet. And it wasn’t as fast as most comparable, non niche trucks in the first place.
What I truely desire in modern cars, and lust about this car is it has a very seemless design. Unfortunately, automanufacturers have totally lost their sense of an integrated, fluid design, which is ever more evident in the 90’s. You’ll notice that many of the most succsessful and beautiful models in history possess some sort of seemless, fluid design. The Ford Taurus, 2CV, Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari in general, Porsche 911, etc.. And we’ve begun to look back at many of these designs from the 50’s and 60’s, such as this car and say “what beautiful cars”. Compare that Holden Truck pictured with the concept to a GMC Sonama, or Ford F-150 and tell me which ones better looking!
And you guys, honestly read the text. Do you believe they will take a “low production” car that may cost “a million dollars” that was “almost as much as the developement costs”, and sell it in that form as an economy car like the HHR and PT Cruiser?

the number one thing that sets a car like this apart from the 60’s most is the LIGHTING
and whats the one basic thing most cars lose between the concept and the showroom? Futuristic LIGHTING techniques. Look at almost every concept gone production as of late that has come with LED headlamps of the sort and now look at how many of them have it… the R8 and a crappy Lexus? For a car like this to maintain its look it would have to maintain those halo-like headlamps, and have some kind of crazy low profile LED taillight setup in the back that looks amazing at night – kind of like the taillights on the 6-series.
While the EVO X is surely an amazing car, one of the main things it lost in translation were those sharp looking headlights from the concept. You may not notice it, but it comes down to details like that which make a car whole. Just like ive said with the brake/turn/tails all being on a single bulb with all the crap ford makes – even the Edge. Lighting matters.

A truly stunning showcar (I saw it at the 2005 Sydney Motor Show) but this will never happen. Noone would pay 1million dollars for it and Holden would never produce it knowing htey could only sell a few.
