Honda has officially taken the wraps off its 3R-C battery electric vehicle concept at the Geneva Motor Show. Based on a three-wheeled platform, the 3R-C represents Honda’s vision of a “single occupant vehicle for zero emission commuting.”
Mixing motorcycle with city car, the one-seat 3R-C uses an all-electric drivetrain to eliminate smog-forming emissions. The 3R-C’s electric drivetrain is mounted low in its chassis, thereby creating better stability.
The 3R-C sports a unique canopy setup, acting as a car cover when stationary and a windshield when the vehicle is in motion. The 3R-C also features high sides surrounding the driver, giving added protection from the elements and side-impact crashes.
A small storage area is located at the front of the 3R-C, offering enough room for a single serving of cargo.
Created by designers at Honda ’s Research and Design facility in Milan, the 3R-C is definitely a pure concept, but the three-wheeled, zero-emissions vehicle could be a small glimpse at the commuter vehicle of the future.
