Honda announces further U.S./Canada production cuts

01/27/2009, 12:28 PM

By Andrew Ganz

Japanese automaker Honda says it plans to cut North American production by another 29,000 vehicles effective immediately. The production cuts don’t include any related personnel cuts, but they do further slash the automaker’s fiscal year output to 1.264 million vehicles – over 200,000 fewer than projected.

Honda’s fiscal year ends in just over two months on March 31. The automaker’s initial forecast called for 1.468 million vehicles to be produced in North America during the fiscal year, but now production is down 12 percent over the previous year.

Honda will cut a further 14,000 vehicles from East Liberty and Marysville, Ohio, where the Civic, Element, CR-V, Accord and Acura TL and RDX are made. The Lincoln, Alabama, plant that produces the Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline and Accord will see 6,000 fewer vehicels. In Canada, the Alliston, Ontario, facility that assembles the Civic and Acura CSX and MDX will lose 9,000 vehicles.

Honda says the production cuts will come by way of idled production days and slowed assembly lines.

So, the Civics built in Ohio…those jobs mean nothing to you? You only support the cars that the UAW builds?

What exactly is American? The Big 3 outsource many parts from all over the world, and probably have less percentage-wise than any other brand. And define the borders as well, since Canada and Mexico are part of North America as well. Rose colored glasses, indeed.

Stupid people likehim don’t realize that foreign companies like Mercedes Benz, Honda, Toyota, Acura, BMW, Mitusbushi, Subaru, Hyundai, Nissan, etc. are providing jobs to AMERICANS.

When you’re that stupid, there is really knowing you can say to make them understand.

These type are who voted for Bush for both terms.

This news makes Americans giggle with Glee. GM is back and kicking ass. Honda is a line of victims of the American Revolution. It’s just not cool to drive a terrorists vehicle anymore. Keep you dollars in America, buy GM. It is your obligation as an American

If you think buying American brand cars will solve America’s problems then I want a pound of what you’re smoking. Need more oil for GM, who do you represent the Oil companies or GM? You have a conflict of interest, stop waving your American flag because chances are it’s probably made in China.

No one should lose their jobs, NMOFGM. Right now I am in the middle of helping with some tough decisions dealing with people the world over – there is no glee in such decisions, believe me, whether the people are American or not.

It’s all about priorities mayer, we need to protect our own. No help for treasonist bastards who chose to sell out their country buying Foriegn cars. This is America and this is GM country. ANyone who does not support GM by working for a foriegn carmaker is just as much a piece of Sh1t as the scumbags in Japan running it

hey guys, NMOFGM is why most people around the world think that americans are stupid, arrogant, ignorant, and a bunch of pompous asses.

NMOFGM, this is directed at you, please stop making a fool of yourself because all your doing is making americans look like fools. just out of curiosity, do you even know where canada is? if so, do you know who our prime minister is? well you should, because he is promising billions to gm (the plants and workers in canada that is) to try and help stabilize the economy.

seriously though, NMOFGM, you really need to go kill yourself because nobody wants to hear from you anymore
