Impulsive, why don't you post that letter in some of the other threads about CAFE, and the Government Motors thread? That's a scary situation.

You are MORE lost than I thought. You are MORE clueless than I thought. Please read this and learn why I am right and you are SOOOOOOOOOOO wrong:

Letter from a Dodge dealer
May 19, 2009

letter to the editor

My name is George C. Joseph. I am the sole owner of Sunshine Dodge-Isuzu, a family owned and operated business in Melbourne, Florida. My family bought and paid for this automobile franchise 35 years ago in 1974. I am the second generation to manage this business.

We currently employ 50+ people and before the economic slowdown we employed over 70 local people. We are active in the community and the local chamber of commerce. We deal with several dozen local vendors on a day to day basis and many more during a month. All depend on our business for part of their livelihood. We are financially strong with great respect in the market place and community. We have strong local presence and stability.

I work every day the store is open, nine to ten hours a day. I know most of our customers and all our employees. Sunshine Dodge is my life.

On Thursday, May 14, 2009 I was notified that my Dodge franchise, that we purchased, will be taken away from my family on June 9, 2009 without compensation and given to another dealer at no cost to them. My new vehicle inventory consists of 125 vehicles with a financed balance of 3 million dollars. This inventory becomes impossible to sell with no factory incentives beyond June 9, 2009. Without the Dodge franchise we can no longer sell a new Dodge as "new," nor will we be able to do any warranty service work. Additionally, my Dodge parts inventory, (approximately $300,000.) is virtually worthless without the ability to perform warranty service. There is no offer from Chrysler to buy back the vehicles or parts inventory.

Our facility was recently totally renovated at Chrysler’s insistence, incurring a multi-million dollar debt in the form of a mortgage at Sun Trust Bank.

HOW IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CAN THIS HAPPEN?

THIS IS A PRIVATE BUSINESS NOT A GOVERNMENT ENTITY

This is beyond imagination! My business is being stolen from me through NO FAULT OF OUR OWN. We did NOTHING wrong.

This atrocity will most likely force my family into bankruptcy. This will also cause our 50+ employees to be unemployed. How will they provide for their families? This is a total economic disaster.

HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN IN A FREE MARKET ECONOMY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

I beseech your help, and look forward to your reply. Thank you.

Sincerely,

George C. Joseph
President & Owner
Sunshine Dodge-Isuzu

I am pretty confident, though not positive ( I am not GOD), that my scenario is the most likely one. Time will tell.

I have looked at the indicators and have started reinvesting my money. Do not wait too long because you have already missed the beginning of the rise. However there will be a couple dips which you can use to get back in.

it's a pretty solid rule that the jobs numbers are a lagging indicator, and the rate of job losses slowed last month...also, the stock market will typically go up before the job numbers return to normal...but that said, the job numbers are still huge and you can't guarantee that we've hit the inflection point...like impulsive said (although i think his tone isn't all that helpful), this could be a bear market rally (where the market goes up temporarily and then heads back down again) if the numbers continue to be bleak everywhere else in the economy...

There's little point in making any prediction until the plight of GM is either resolved or the path of the proceedings is somewhat clear. They may exert nowhere near the influence on the industry as they did in the past but it is still significant nonetheless.

I'm not even going to venture a guess as to when the economy and car market will recover...but when it does, I'd wager there will be a pretty good run on new car sales. A lot of people have already or are putting off car purchases. It's only a matter of time until they will need replacements. Because lets be honest, most of America replaces their car every 5-7 years whether it be new or used.

get marchionne and ghosn to give their two cents, and fukui and big al can go play a game of four square together down in the land of milk and honey, where the rivers run amber with beer and the trees are made out of ice cream

'carstuff', you have been fooled. HUGE.

The stock market will very soon return to its downward trend. It was oversold and bounced on no fundamentals. Watch the unemployment numbers jump due to all the dealership closures. Watch the commercial real estate market tumble further as more property comes to market when there is NO market for it. Watch the US $ tumble below .82 USDX.

PLEASE, learn something before posting nonsense. Maybe start hanging out with 'shane' and go back to school to learn the basics of life. Many of you here are lost and don't deserve the privilege of posting here.

Car sales will go up in the last half. Things are getting better and that will give confidence to those who do not fear losing their jobs but have cut back just in case. Their vehicles are getting older than they prefer and they will buy new ones soon. Most of them will see the great deals and want to get in on it.

The stock market has already shown the way and it has been going up for months. Vehicle sales will follow. Jobs will follow that.

Struggle- Nah, but these were made to excel in the wind tunnel to boost fuel economy, not to win a pageant.

And I think the manufacterers did okay with what they had to do as far as performance/ styling balance. Honda moreso, I prefer the Insight over the Prius stylewise.

The concept Prius was cool, but this new one is almost uglier than the current one.

The insight isn't the best looking thing either, but again, it's a gas can on wheels.
Neither car has been a design award winner, and probably never will be.

1115- Why? The Insight's M.O. is being a smaller, cheaper Prius alternative. Making it larger would just raise the price to where the Prius is at.

The Solar Panel roof I guess would be okay.

And eco friendly cloth material is undoubtedly on the works.

Not to mention, as far as my eyes go, I would take the Insight, the 3rd Prius is pretty homely.

Wow! People love writing 1115 I think the 3rd Prius has the Insight beat on many angles. Honda should make the Insight a little larger and offer options like a soloar panel sunroof and maybe even some leather or eco friend leather like material.

Borat

Based on yesterday news of further job losses this optimism is borderline insane. I hope they all right, for my own sake, but realistically I think they fool of kaka as they have been since Earth cooled off.

Very harsh words for Mulally last week for saying the same thing this guy is saying. Borat did you have a really good weekend or are you just a biased prick...no need to answer it was a rhetorical question.

It also explains why Hondas are all over the world, and why crap like oldsmobile and dodge are only seen on American roads.
