Honda reveals 2009 Civic coupe

Following on the heels of the unveiling of the 2009 Civic sedan, the wraps have come off the two-door version. As expected, the coupe shares the subtle design upgrades with its four-door counterpart and promises to continue offering Civic buyers a sporty alternative.

For 2009, the Civic coupe will be offered in DX, LX, EX, EX-L and Si trim levels.

Up front, the 2009 Civic coupe features a new bumper, along with newly designed air inlets – three separate inlets replace last year’s large single inlet. A revised grille rounds out the changes for the front of the 2009 Civic.

Out back, the Civic’s taillights have received a freshening.

The base model will feature a 140 horsepower 1.8L four-cylinder that is rated at 36 mpg highway. Honda has yet to release an mechanical details for the hotter Si model, but all should be revealed in the coming months.

Starting to look more and more like a mini-Accord coupe. I think that’s a good thing.

The current Civic coupe is an excellent design - in fact it’s Honda’s only nice design - and the mild refresh doesn’t ruin it, thankfully.

The Accord coupe is okay, nothing special, but in the cases of the Accord and the Civic both sedans look like hell. Honda engineers excellent vehicles and builds them well, but a blind retard could do better with exterior and interior design.

No one builds better small cars than Honda (at least not among the cars sold in America). They hit it out of the park with the styling of the Civic coupe. Doesn’t look cheap or trendy. I wish the Si was available with an auto tranny, though. The base engine is wimpy. The Scion TC feels a bit more powerful.

Sporty car…………..with FWD, wow! If people that actually like sporty cars, ignored the FWD and bought the (to few)competitors, then they (carmakers) may get the message. Sporty cars (coupes)must come with RWD. Its like a Ferrari with a 1.6 litre engine, plain stupid, as the people buying the FWD Coupe ****.(that goes for auto trans to).

What exactly are they “revealing” here? Looks like the same car to me. Maybe if they got rid of the playskool dash, then maybe it’d be a cool little coupe.

So glad that Honda offers coupes and sedans. Unlike the Toyota Corolla that is 4-door only, the Civic gives us a choice between sexy 2-door and boring 4-door.

And speaking of which the Toyota Camry boring 4-door will no longer have a coupe companion, as the Solara is being discontinued, except the convertible. Guess that leaves the Altima Coupe and Accord Coupe head-to-head!

Sure, the MINI and Miata are great cars… but they cost THOUSANDS more… So why are you comparing them to the Civic?

Pretty much all of the cheap import coupes are gone. The Civic is really the last one standing. No coupe for Corolla, Sentra, Versa, Impreza, all gone. The Mitsubishi Eclipse has grown considerably in performance, size and price.

With that said, the Cobalt and Focus have seen this, and have come in. I think that’s a big reason why Ford decided to offer the Focus in coupe, instead of station wagon and hatchback (although all four options would be great). Problem is, automanufacturers complain about prices of creating variants, so most have narrowed it down to one. But everywhere else in the world, most vehicles come in as many different variants as a Rubics cube.

Maxcar- I like the looks too. I think you already know this, but that isn’t the Civic, it’s the City. It would be pretty neat if Honda brought the City to the states.

Sport + FWD, doesn’t make the best combo, and I know RWD cars are much better but not everyone can have RWD cars. Especially those that just have daily drivers or live in states/provinces that have winters.

There are pretty sporty cars out there that are FWD, like the Mini Cooper S, Caliber SRT-4, Mazdaspeed 3, Cobalt SS Turbocharged, in fact the new Cobalt SS/TC would run circles around cars like a new Mustang GT on an actual course… There are some sporty cars that can be FWD…. but I agree I’d rather have RWD too.

or if AWD is your thing then that’s good too.

Personally I can’t stand the Civic, just my opinion. I do however like the new Civic coupe that’s currently out. I’m not down with the interior but that’s ok. Also the next Honda Civic Si better have some balls, because currently as of right now it’s being left behind in the dust performance wise by the Mazdaspeed 3, Caliber SRT-4, & Cobalt SS/TC…
