Honda has officially announced their plans to build an all-new model developed and badged by its state-run Chinese joint venture, Guangzhou Honda Automobile, Ltd. The Japanese headquarters of Honda has invested 30 billion yen ($265 million U.S.) in a Chinese research and development center to create a new brand of China-specific vehicles.
Honda hasn’t announced just how many or what type of vehicles they plan to produce and design, but given the official directive that the new cars will feature a China-specific design and branding, it’s evident that Honda is very serious about the Chinese market. We wouldn’t expect these Guangzhou Honda-branded vehicles to be sold outside of China, at least initially.
Guangzhou Honda has been producing cars for Honda in Japan since 1999. Currently, Guangzhou Honda produces Jazz and Accord models at the Honda Automobile (China) Company plant, but nearly all of those vehicles are exported – primarily to Europe.

Crap goes worldwide!
My son (6) said to me “There’s a car with an ‘H’ on the front, and it’s a Honda.”
My reply
“There’s a GOOD car with an ‘H’ on the front, and it’s a Hyundai!”

jackjimturkey,
I’m curious, what’s your beef with Honda? Bad sales experience? A lemon? You seem to trash them every chance you get.

I used to own a honda.
problems, before its death at 91K:
head gasket
several electrical sytem failures
Hatchback that wouldn’rt open
bad brakes.
rear Windshield wiper that didn’t work during the snowy winter, but come a 105° day, and it’s like watching a peter north movie.
Also, I had a friend whu traded in a Taurus for a Civic, and it died on her on the freeway several times.
The only good thing I’ll say about my honda is that I could never remember when I last gassed it up.

I’ve owned Hondas ever since I started driving. I’ve never had any problems with them. As for expanding in China, don’t you guys read the news? China’s a great place to do business lately.

if you’re serious about being an automaker, you ignore China at your own peril.
Hell most americans already have cars. Chine could have 400 million first-time buyers ovet the next few years

Wow, that’s pretty bad. Were these new cars? I’ve owned three Hondas, two Civics and an Odyssey, all new. The Civics were/are pretty flawless: ~35 MPG, oil change every 3K miles, maintenance every 15K miles. I hand one for 11 years and it never left me stranded.
The Ody was another story. The electric doors occasionally got ‘possessed’; interior bits broke off, squeaked or rattled; A ‘check engine’ light that two dealerships couldn’t figure out; a transmission that thumped like a ton of bricks whenever it got cold;and finally a broken engine mount at 50K miles for no explicable reason.
Overall, Honda builds exellent car but unfortunately clunkers will still get through.

It hurts the auto manufacturs image… if it was Ford or GM doing this, you’d all be getting your pants in a wad!
My friend had a Honda Odyssey, it was a good car from what I know, but they never really praised anything about it. I guess they didn’t have much to praise =\
Talking about Hyundai, Jackjimturkey… My friend owned a Hyundai about two years ago, and they complained about every little detail… Then they bought a Honda, and complained about it being unexciting and creaky.
The first time I saw a Hyundai I thought it was a copy of Honda, or the other way around… note, extremely similar badging and name.
