Honda, Porsche Top J.D. Power APEAL Study

06/28/2007, 1:59 PM

By Andrew Ganz

Honda and Porsche led all automakers in J.D. Power’s 2007 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study. Porsche was the top among all brands studied with the highest Brand Performance and Design Ratings, while Honda took home more category awards than any other manufacturer.

J.D. Power’s APEAL Study, conducted between February and May, surveyed 91,000 consumers within 90 days of their new car purchase. The study identifies customer satisfaction in the categories of performance, style, comfort and features. According to consumers, German cars lead the industry: Porsche, BMW and Mercedes-Benz took home the top three overall brand positions. Lexus and Jaguar finished fourth and fifth.

The biggest gainers of the year were Saturn and Jaguar, both due to heavily revised product portfolios. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Chrysler Group’s three brands, Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep all finished in the bottom five. Jeep took last place, a step down from 2006 when the brand finished second-to-last. However, ’06’s biggest loser, Isuzu, was not included in the ‘07 study.

Honda won four of the 19 individual vehicle segments, including the Fit in the sub-compact category (tied with the Toyota Yaris); the CR-V in the compact MAV segment; the Ridgeline in the mid-size pickup category; and the Odyssey in the van category. BMW and Mercedes-Benz won three categories each, while Nissan, Ford and Volkswagen each won two categories.

This is ridiculous . Most people are happy with their cars in the first 90 days. Poll them after 60 months – THAT would be much more telling.

The Civic Sedan won the most APEAL award due to the predominance of butt-ugly greenie hairy-armpitted bulldyke biatches in the survey sampling. Plus a few butt-pirate sperm-toilet homos who lisp for some reason no one has ever figured out (because sucking it does not cause the same speech impediment in women).

Now I can wait for Buenos to call me names ….

Are they talking about the tired Porsche 911 line or its new exciting Cayman line? (Not even going to mention the crippled 3.4L engine nor the lack of LSD, which everyone thinks the Cayman REALLY (in capital letters) needs.) Cause the 911 w/o the GT spoiler is butt ugly. The Cayman looks much better from behind than the 911.

Funny how Jeep finished last. If you go onto any new Wrangler forum, the threads are teeming with stories about electrical gremlins, missing paint, leaky tops, and other random signs of ****ty workmanship. It’s unbelievable. And instead of getting pissed off, the Jeepers high-five each other and console themselves by saying “It’s a Jeep thing, it’s SUPPOSED to be like that.”

Idiots. And that’s why Jeep gets to save money on quality control.

JJT is an idiot Just thought I would say that. The Honda will always be on top and Porsche is too expensive to not be on top I couldnt imagine paying all that $$$ for a Cayenne or Cayman and having to take it to the dealer for repairs lol
